Description
(First, I remember the rumors from 1996 on Mark's Godzilla Page...or somewhere else...that Death Ghidorah was going to have a skeletal motif.Secondly, SOMEONE on this site, you know who you are, noted that DG was "the closest thing we've had to a sauropod," so I ran with it
Living Volcano
DEATH GARUGARU
HEIGHT:
70 meters at the head
MASS:
27,000 metric tons
BIO:
The savage DEATH GARUGARU had proven too much for both the aging MOTHRA and the single Mothra larvae, the mother kaiju drowning while her infant watched helplessly...
Now that there was but one Mothra, she was compelled to complete the cycle and continue the fight; she went to the Tree of Life, a massive entity perhaps older that GIGAMOTH, and she cocooned herself about the tree, drawing strength from the Earth itself...
When Mothra was reborn, she looked more or less as she always did, but her eyes had a mystical green glow in place of the usual blue...
Meanwhile, Death Garugaru rampaged about the countryside, absorbing more and more energy from the forests, and soon he would be powerful enough to set all of Japan ablaze. Suddenly, Mothra appeared in the skies, shrieking her battle cry. Garugaru, his eyes hot with the single-minded malice of Gigamass, took to the air as though he were swimming, his bizarre wings creating a wave which propelled him at his foe.
The new, supercharged Mothra used every trick she had, and a few more; utilizing a new power that the Earth had given her, she commanded the elements to assault Garugaru! A great storm appeared and blasted him to the Earth, where huge roots lashed out and bound him to the planet's embrace, where his own magma-powers turned against him, and the ground erupted and exploded!
Mothra then performed a final sealing spell, successfully destroying this piece of Gigamass.
ABILTIES/ASPECTS:
- Flight
- Able to absorb energy of dieing plants
- Spits magma-like blasts from mouth
- Can control magma beneath the Earth and cause explosive shockwaves
UP NEXT:
Fairy Mothra
(ps - "Desghidorah" is a retarded name)

I take back my comment about "GaruGaru" sounding silly.
I'ts neat to see a quadruped-type monster, or is it a killer sauropod? Oh well. The wings look interesting and remind me of Gigan.

Now that one cool sauropod. But lets face it, if he ever go to the annual Big Bad Kaiju party he be picked on by Gigan, Ghidorah and Destroyah for his name. Death Garugaru? And I thought Mohtra Leo was male?

I'm trying to focus on King Ghidorah being the only true Ghidorah in Godzilla Neo.

Man, this thing is quite unique. I personally expected him to have three heads, but it still works with one. It's not often you find a dragon kaiju with this kind of body build. Even my fan Kaiju, Walterrus, looks generic by comparison. I will agree with the person who said that quadruped forms have quite a lot of potential, even though people look on them as not having much of any for the imposing factor. You have to kind of throw out logic to not see the potential. Four legs makes you harder to knock down. And if you want a walking tank, this is the way to go ordinarily. Not saying two legged forms can't cut it, but it's more workable with four legs. Who needs arms when you can toss, throw, and thrash with your mouth? As well as spew deadly projectiles from your mouth?
The swimming flight is a unique idea, I certainly haven't seen it very often in the Kaiju Genra. Though eastern, wingless dragons seem to be depicted as using such a flight mechanism, for those that do fly anyways. Though they move with a more serpentine motion, Death Garugaru uses a different method of swimming flight. Kudos on that bit of originality.
Again, I still would have loved to see this thing with three heads, but I can see why you'd opt for one. One, you only want one Ghidorah in the Neoverse. (Mecha Ghidora is something of an exception. Yet, is not at the same time because it is the same creature as the purely organic Ghidorah, just with cybernetic enhancements.) Two, One mind prevents it from arguing with itself, and can focus on one task better. Three, Garugaru didn't have any structures in his "chibi" form that looked like heads, or half heads. Monster X can get away with growing two more heads as he has this. Garugaru did not, and thus, it wouldn't make a lot of sense for him to grow two more. Anyways, keep up the good work.

Really hard to render with a suit.
There's also something of an instinct to look down one's nose at quadrupeds that makes them seem somewhat less imposing. It's illogical, but it's the truth.

Hrm, I dunno, some of the most frightening and imposing creatures man has tangled with have been Quadrupeds...and the biggest creatures that ever walked were all quadrupeds... I guess people are stupid.
The four legged suits, granted, I understand. Anguirus always looked kinda funny with the way he walked. You could, however, do a Kaiju film with stop motion and have solid quadrupeds.

Mecha-GREGOLE In reply to NuclearConvoy [2009-07-19 23:09:02 +0000 UTC]
I didn't say it wasn't stupid. But the human mind instinctively focuses on height over overall mass. We're vertically built creatures, so we're more intimidated by vertically built creatures.
Granted, a sauropod IS A fairly vertically built creature, so I'm gonna go back to my original answer and say that it's just REALLY hard to do justice with suitanimation.

Very nice! Taking the sauropod and running with it was definatly a good idea-he looks very imposing and powerful, a perfect World destroyer when you only want one Ghidorah in the universe.
And it's surprisingly easy to see the cute Garu-Garu turn into this-you really blended the important features from the first one into this vicious beast to tie them together.

"Desghidorah" is a stupid name because the translators couldn't be bothered to properly interpret it. >> Japanese purists or lazy translators? Couldn't say...
Hmmm.... what we basically have here is a one-headed Death Ghidorah with a... shrimp tail?
All in all, it's not bad. I like how you went with a demonic sauropod motif, as I think that just plain works for the unstoppable hellbeast role Death Ghidorah had. I like how it's bulky and rather immovable looking, rather than the sleek and lightweight critters we tend to get for these roles.
I think the tail makes it look a little unbalanced, but it also does give it some individuality and prevents it from looking totally like a dressed up dinosaur. And I definitely like you you incorporated the classic fins.
All in all, I still prefer Death Ghidorah and Garugaru in their original roles, but this isn't a bad substitute. I imagine you want to cut back on the Ghidorahs to make the king more important, so I can understand the motivation behind it. I just think "Garugaru" Reeeeeeally isn't the kind of name you should give an unstoppable monster-tank.
If you view this as an original creation, I think it works nicely. It's powerful-looking, it's imposing and it's not at all generic.
