BIO -
From the notes of Dr. Ishirō Serizawa:
May 2014
“MUTO Biology Files: SHINOMURA, male and female sexual dimorphism, behavioral, and life cycle analysis.
The male of the species begins life as a small nymph, roughly the size of a large dog or even a man, based on the remains found after the Battle of San Francisco.
The nymph then begins to feed on its host’s energy stores. This life cycle is not unlike that of the Tarantula Hawk, which attacks and paralyzes its prey, laying eggs in the body for its young to feed and grow, even while the host still lives.
My hypothesis, already presented to the MONARCH council, is that Gojirasaurus prodigious were mortal enemies of the Shinomura super species, and the Shinomura, while smaller and weaker than the ancient Gojirasaurs, were capable of incapacitating the reptilian beasts with pack-hunting tactics.
As the nymphs grow, they become larger and more powerful, with burrowing capabilities. They would gorge as much nuclear energy as they could muster before this process began, and dig themselves deep underground to feed on their own bloated bodies’ energy stores, as their bodies changed.
The males are smaller and more agile than the females. Not to mention that they are capable of flight. The females, by contrast, are positively massive, with armored bodies and powerful limbs.
Males apparently provide an “offering” to the females - evidently a nuclear-storage organ of some kind, or perhaps a smaller creature that also lives on radioactive energy...either way it is similar to the nuclear device delivered to the female in San Francisco. It is not a stretch to surmise that, if a male’s offering is not satisfactory to the female, she will either chase him off or kill him outright.
While the female is nest-making, the male will patrol the area and protect her with his life. The female also possesses fearsome protective instincts of the nest.
One curious aspect of these creatures is their bizarre mix of traits. They possess both endo- and exoskeletons; they have compound eyes; they have powerful electrical sensitivity; they have pupating life-cycles...
In this way, they are somewhat similar to Gojirasaurus prodigious - a creature that also possesses a mix of traits from other terrestrial organisms, such as gills, lungs, scales, a warm-blooded body with cold-blooded characteristics...it is almost as though the creatures from this mysterious nuclear-rich epoch of the Earth were the progenitors of all life on our planet...
We are finally learning more about the so-called 'Atomic Era'..."
ABILITIES/ASPECTS:
- Armored hide resistant to most conventional weaponry
- Capable of a variety of long-distance echolocation and other bioacoustics
- Naturally produced EMP ability seemingly evolved to counter the electromagnetic properties of Gojirasaurus prodigious’s atomic breath.
- Can lay up to 200 eggs at a time
- Female produces a near-constant sphere of influence that nullifies almost all electronic equipment.
- Piercing claws can penetrate even Godzilla’s skin

I like your version of the Muto. So, did Legendary Godzilla (Neo) destroy the Muto pair alone or did Super Godzilla (Neo) join in the fight?

He fought them alone. According to the timeline, Super Godzilla didn't exist yet.

A great design, but this is not Shinomura these are the Mutos the male and female of the movie of 2014, is not the monster that appears in the comic prequel of the same movie, someone explains it to me?

Proudzillafan has the right of it - one of my favorite things to do in Godzilla Neo is combine elements from similar characters and mash them together to trim the fat and make it a more cohesive universe. The prequel comic isn’t even canon to the Monsterverse (only in the unlikely event it is referenced in the films) and the Shinomura in the comics is little more than a pale imitation of Hedorah/Destoroyah, so...who cares?
The MUTO’s in the film needed a proper name, since MUTO is just a code word. So I combined some visual elements from the comic Shinomura into the larvae form of the MUTO’s and gave them all the same name.

I agree with your reasoning, if I owe you to be honest I liked the idea of seeing your Neo Shinomura version of the comic since the Mutos did not make a very good impression, I preferred to see Rokmutul in the movie.

Also, after taking another look at the larva stage, KaijuSamurai seems to have taken some inspiration from the Shinomura to create the larva form. Just without the wings.

In Godzilla Neo, MUTO is not the name of the creatures, but a classification (like Kaiju in Japan). To give the monsters from the 2014 a better name (or rather a name), KaijuSamurai used the name of the monster from the comic prequel. Might as well, since the monster itself didn't really add anything of value to the lore. I hope that helps.

You are right that the name of M.U.T.O is how they classify monsters in this universe but Shinomura is the name of the monster of the comic and they have nothing to do with those of the movie, they are two different species.

ProudZillaFan In reply to marcdrac2 [2018-04-24 13:02:13 +0000 UTC]
True. KaijuSamurai combined the two species into one. Truthfully, there is not much that remained from the original Shinomura design here, but hey, that's what KaijuSamurai has decided to do.

To combine is not the exact word, the only thing that I do is to put the name of another monster, only to compare it.

For example, there are the Deutalios. In reality, Deutalios was a fish/rat hybrid that was scrapped from Godzilla vs Biollante. In Godzilla Neo, the name was repurposed for giant rat mutations that would fight Frankenstein. That is the most obvious one, if I remember correctly.

Hey I think you might've gotten the names mixed up, Shinomura's a starfish shape cell colony that act like a hive mind, thus resulting the "swarm of death" (Shi No Mura).
What we are looking at here, the 2 Muto Cockroaches, are both Hokmuto and Femmuto, completely different from Shinomura.
Other than that, I really love the designs you put forth for Godzilla and the 2 Mutos

I must say this--combining the MUTOs and Shinomura is easily the best thing that could have happened with those two. Not only is there an implementation of a proper name for the male and female MUTOs, but you also worked in a lot of the core Shinomura traits into the Larva. Very clever. Eager to see what's going to be done with Shin Godzilla. My question is, will he be a multi-stage creature too? Or will he just have the Fourth Form as the base?

Badass, oh shit we'll get Shin Godzilla too? AWESOME! Hopefully after that we get Godzilla Earth
Though I hope the Neo versions will make some improvements like Shin Godzilla having Bulkier arms and normal eyes that don't look like a puppets and Godzilla Earth having actual teeth and a Fiercer Facial Expression(and if its ok the gut area could be a little slimmer) those are my ideas but I'll let Matt decide

Your explanation sounds a lot better than the lifecycle provided in Godzilla 2014. I was a bit confused on how the larvae match the appearance of their parents so fast.

Wicked work as always, and brilliant how you've filled in the gap between the nymph and adult forms.
The atomic age definitely sounds like it has the potential for a lot of weird and powerful creatures to exist. Makes me wonder if we'll see Stranger make a cameo at all?
In any case, looking forward to seeing how you do Shin Godzilla and how its incorporated into the Neo Timeline.

So the MUTO and the Shinomura are the same thing in your universe, intriguing. Also i can't wait (actually i can but you know what i mean) to see your interpretation of Shin Godzilla and most of all, what his story would be. I have one idea on how it would fit in the timeline but I'd like to hear about yours first!
