depends which one. the first zilla was an insult to be even compared to him. however the second one was far, far more powerful and durable by far.

Godzilla hands down. I don't care how strong Zilla Jr. was. Godzilla would tear him apart. It'll be a good fight but I think we all know who will come out on top.

Godzilla rips monsters apart with his atomic breath as well. Have you even seen Godzilla Final Wars? Godzilla is at least close to as fast as Zilla Jr in that.

In Final Wars the producer pretty obviously just wanted to bitchslap Zilla for besmirching the good name of Godzilla. Here's hoping this two-comic run actually gives us a real fight instead of a "no-sale" curbstomp.

No, they were just that disappointed in Zilla, which honestly I can't blame them for, although Zilla Jr definitely made up for daddy's shortcomings.

Hmm...ever come across a Godzilla script that was being proposed back in '94? Would've had the Pirates of the Caribbean writers, Stan "Jurassic Park" Winston on the SFX, and a fairly nifty rival monster design...but Toho (a) blackballed any opposing beasties save for selections from their own stable (e.g. Ghidorah, Anguirus, etc.) and (b) insisted Sony/TriStar pony up a comparable sum to the Godzilla license's price for the use of said classic kaiju. The script was scrapped as a result, Devlin & Emmerich rolled in with their own revisions several years later, and here we are. So really, Toho's license-hoarding opened the way for GINO in the first place.

Looks like it could have been awesome. Granted, I honestly liked the design for Zilla, so if they'd used that design coupled with the plot they put forward, it would have probably been a hit.

Didn't have much aesthetic beef with Zilla myself aside from the somewhat tiny teeth...all that 'not-so-GODzilla' baggage aside, I find the '98 film watchable enough for a creature feature. 'Sides, it spurred on the original's return nicely.
