well in the movie titanosaurus was being controlled and battra is the protector of the earth itself while mothra was the protector of the life on earth thats why they team up to fight godzilla in the final part of the movie. kumonga im not so sure of though since it never really a main villian against godzilla like the kamacuras

Not really. He didn't have a forked tongue in Godzilla: Unleashed (nor do I think he had it in the intact concept art from "Save the Earth"), and even in stills from the movie it's not apparent: [link]

That's one of the things that makes Kumonga one of the better giant spiders in fiction for me, and that he's one of the few such beasts to serve as a good guy. And seeing how "Destroy All Monsters" technically is the last adventure in the Showa-continuity (the future year of 1999 and all), Kumonga pretty much stays that way.

Though I still love how the effects staff on Toho still knew its own monster characters, and even with Kumonga helping out, Minilla is still freaking scared on the arachnid.
