This guy gives me Professor Layton vibes for absolutely no reason, and I love it. I can just see a whole story about him and his wacky art antics, and then there's just a bunch of kids who have no idea what's going on as he breaks the fourth wall to teach the viewers art tips. And he went to some war a long time ago, but he's still unnaturally chipper until he meets his old art rival with a really pointy and triangular eyebrows from the war. And all the rival's kids are cookie-cutter student who all wear purple and are really snobby. And so this art guy has to teach his students to follow their passions and be better than the other kids, because he loves them like his own children. Because he has no children, or at least not anymore, because his wife and child died when their house was destroyed in the war, and the child tried to run back in to save a painting he made for his wife, who then ran in to stop the child. And now he's spent twenty years trying to recreate the painting, which is a portrait of them all together, but he can't quite get their faces and that alone has taken him ten years. But he hasn't stopped out of love for them, and so he keeps going, hoping one day to finish his last tribute to his wife and son. But it turns out his son is the prestigious apprentice of his rival, and not dead. And that he was found under a pile of wreckage, barely alive and with amnesia. And now the art guy has to make it to class to teach his students how to paint apples, grieve over the death of his wife, wage war on his lifelong rival, and reconnect with his amnesiac son. Dun dun dun.
Haha. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it. This is really cool. I may revisit this, should I ever actually get around to animating.
