The idea of the Spring Crab Day came up during WorldAnvil's Summer Camp challenge. One prompt asked for "a festival associated with a celestial body", so I wrote about the time when the planet Kasavoa appears to be inside the Spring Crab constellation. While figuring out how the different cultures on Ranul would celebrate it, I came up with the idea of special lanterns used on that occasion.
I decided to write about these lanterns for Spooktober prompt number 6, "glow". This is the illustration to go with it.
Modeled in Blender, textured with GIMP and rendered with Blender's Cycles engine. Plus some bloom added in GIMP.
