Mirek was a killjoy for lack of a better term, while Luz insisted he was a kind and fun-loving man the stables had yet to see it, knowing him only during work hours as the stern and unpleasant eventing overlord who had thrown the 3DE horses at anyone who would take one, forcing single discipline riders to take them for only their class just to get the horses out. Unfortunately, he was right to do so as the poor horses had wasted a large portion of their adult years as pasture ornaments.

It disgusted the man that these horses had been what, hoarded? Sure they had been well taken care of but for what purpose if they just sat in the pasture to rot? While he wasn't a fan of Vechnyy's policy of starting horses at 4 years old rather than 3 he could see the benefit of it, a 4 year old horse was more mentally and physically mature and was more likely to stay sound for longer. But to leave a 10 year old horse sitting in the pasture, half trained? Pathetic. Sell them if you're going to ignore them.

Mirek himself rarely rode and had not intended to come to Vechnyy as an employee yet it had happened naturally, completely at the fault of his overbearing personality. After several days of bossing people around Keke had told him to put up or shut up so the man signed on as a competition rider and assigned himself a string of horses, perhaps assigning himself the best of the youngsters but there was no way to prove it.

Somehow, Vechnyy had amassed some of the most reliable and oldest eventing bloodlines in the world and done exactly nothing with them, the stables having 0 Three Day Event entries ever in their entire history. Natalie Who was among those bloodlines, her sire Nastasiuk had been a successful eventer before his untimely death and it was a tragedy that she had been ignored as long as she was. Her 4th birthday had coincided with the Third Anual SlightlyMad Show and with that meant she had slipped through the cracks, remaining unstarted until someone realized this horse was 5 years old and had never held a bit.

Despite her late start she had progressed quickly and was an uncomplicated ride, a proper pushbutton pony who was happy to start over fences sooner rather than later. She had been ponied on enough paper chases to know how to handle herself over natural fences so Mirek made the call to bring her along on their mare-only trip to Sunrise Valley International as a candidate for some low level Eventing.
