Always scratch folding lines with the backside of a cutter!
_ _ _ _ _ Mountain Fold . _ . _ . _ . _ Valley Fold

---------Download both the Papercraft sheet and the Instruction Sheet!---------

*Step Red: Fold the triangular columns and glue them to the back of the rainbows and the cat. Add weight if necessary.

*Step Orange: Fold the single parts of the body. Try if the columns can easily slit through the holes. Use a pen for the round parts to prebend.

*Step Yellow: Push the lever through the first hole and glue green on green on both sides of the barrel. Finish the body and make sure you can turn the lever.

*Step Green: Push the rainbows and the cat through the holes and let Nyan Cat fly.

*Solving problems of friction:
a) Triangluar holes are too small
b) Tape the areas where it has to slide, some paper sorts are too rough, transparent tape is slippery enough on paper.

Well, it took me 4 hours but it works great! The only thing I couldnt figure out was the pop tart body black piece that you cut into 2. IDK how to attach it or why its needed. In the end I had to glue the body and tail together so it looks a little out of synch but thats ok. Another thing that confused me was the cat head black piece, and why it connected everywhere except the ears. But all in all this is great and fun! Thanks so much!

oops, it's working okay for me now but how do you print this out in A4 sized paper? I tried but it's offscale. hmm

kamibox In reply to bloopitybloop [2011-12-09 08:01:49 +0000 UTC]

It's a bit narrower, so just print it out that everything is on the paper

I wanna do this as a Christmas gift for a few friends this year. What brand of paper would you recommend that I print this on? Also, would it be easier to print this from home, or just have some professionals take care of it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kamibox In reply to Ja-Rome [2011-11-19 12:09:28 +0000 UTC]

Printing it at home won't be that bad, but of course the colors will be a lot better when you let it print, but it may be more difficult to glue and fold then, because some professional laser printer papers can't be folded without losing color on the edges. Nevertheless the paper shouldn't be rough, because then it doesn't slide through the holes (When it is too rough, you can also make the columns slippery with some sticky tape)
And I recommend 160g/m² paper, but I don't know the brands you have in America

"Use a pen for the round parts to prebend."

...What round parts? The thing that you turn? Or the actual columns?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kamibox In reply to nekobaka99 [2011-09-06 10:37:53 +0000 UTC]

The colums are triangluar, the round things are the nyannyannyannyan-barell and the white part on the thing that you turn.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nekobaka99 In reply to kamibox [2011-09-10 18:22:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I gave up on that lol. I just made the nyan cat, attached it to a string, and now it hangs ffrom my ceiling.
