Description

Continuing with the previous theme (Antillian spirits), here's a map for my fictional island of Wynthilyla (Antilia, Saint Brendan's, Sete Cidades or "The island of Seven Nations" in late medieval portolans). Based on the real Great Meteor Seamount south of the Azores archipelago, the island is peopled by an ancient Berber people related to the Guanches or Canarians. The placenames and tribal names reflect this relationship. The map is based on the cartographic style of the 19th Century.

This is a variation on the other map simply inverting the colours. I liked the idea of representing a phantom island on another plane, an island that appears and disappears, with an "inverted" map; sort of mysterious and otherworldly.
