I rarely color tutorials, but this time I personally considered a shading necessary because a simple lineart would be so confusing due to the complex anatomical features ears have.

Thanks! ears are really tough, i can never figure out the 'insides' of them, if you get what I mean. I keep staring at my ears but it never helps. xP Think I'll have a look at those hand pics you've put in the description box now. They could be handy too. (get it??)

The point of studying is to, you know, spend as much time studying as possible... not drawing once then mirroring the image. Ears are not symmetrical anyway :/

...Just gonna point this out, but ears are a bit like fingerprints - they're never exactly the same shape for two different people. They bend and dip different ways and at different angles and degrees and all that, and the general shape and positioning of the ear can vary drastically from person to person, so while this study is rather in-depth, it is ultimately kind of wrong to draw the same ears every time for different people or characters.

Not to mention one of the biggest pain in the asses to draw, right along with hands.

This looks great, but it would be nice to have some idea about the head angle. You can guess it, of course, since ears and heads have their particular perspective when a head changed position. But it is rather difficult in some of the last drawings. Other than that, I think it is wonderful to see such a tutorial, specially for ears. They look awesome and are very well shaded.
