I really wanted to draw an english horse, since I've been working on so many western pieces lately with Legend and Bourbon. And as I hadn't drawn my boy Embarr in a while, I decided it would be fun to kill two birds with one stone and draw him, doing what he does best; dressage! Here he's performing a very flashy extended canter under Brock, his rider. In my storyline, Brock rides Embarr in very abusive rollkur, so I kind of tried to show that here with his frame, expression (ears back + tail swishing), and flicked feet. Don't worry though, Embarr has a very happy ending he gets bought by two very nice sisters, and they rehabilitate him! Hopefully I'll get some art of that soon too, hehehe! Until then, enjoy this piece! I certainly enjoyed creating it And fortunately I am also very pleased with the final result, too! Doesn't happen every time hahah! I tried a bit of a rougher more stylized line art while still keeping it realistic, and it was really fun! maybe I'll do more pieces this way in the future. The textured brushes really add a lot of character to it, I think.
