Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand here we have rookie Axl on his first mission in Red Alert; totally beaten up and such, just after having received that all-famous scar XD
Now, about the scar... I looked up some information on Axl to see if that scar was explained somewhere but I couldn't find anything. I don't even think it is explained in the games itself (I never played the X games, so I don't know for sure). Anyhow, this is just MY version of how he got that scar ^-^
Originally the idea was to make this a one page comic on which he actually gets attacked and receives the scar, but that didn't really work out. Maybe I'll try it again later. I used reference for the pose after failing to get it right three times; it was taken from a random RMX manga scan I found on my computer.

Shading this thing took me hours >> I sketched and inked Axl yesterday evening and sketched and inked the background this morning and colored and shaded the whole thing with hardly any breaks; I only just finished it now (it's 22.45 in the evening here)
The background and shading is similar to that unfinished Maverick Hunters drawing that's somewhere in my gallery.
Because this is a pretty dark picture, I uploaded the lineart here ; it shows the cracks and damage on his armor a bit better XD

o.o Holy shpit. That's amazing! I can't believe you drew every raindrop by hand- I would go into a mental breakdown if I tried to do that. @-@ The CGing in his armor, the detail, everything- it's absolutely frikkin awesome. The background only adds to that- it makes the whole picture seem pretty dark and eerie. I love the way you did the clouds, too. They look all pretty and misty
The only thing I could point out is the skyscrapers in the background would fit in a little better if they were more blurred instead of sharp, seeing that it's raining, but it looks awesome nevertheless. XD

How the hell you do so wonderful shading? that is awesome! And how you got the rain effect? (don't tell me you drew it line by line. it's IMPOSSIBLE!) What program do you use? @_@
But, I wouldn't be myself if I didn't critique a bit. Colors of his eye and hair look a bit... out of content. Too bright for this kind of dark picture, I think.

I mostly use photoshop 7 when making my stuff ^-^ Though I used photoshop 6 for the clouds; can't make good clouds in 7.
Hmz, how I do the shading... lol, you're not the first who asked me 
About the rain... I did kinda drew it line by line XD''' I first filled the whole picture with short, tiny stripes and then added a motion blur over it. And then I used the brush again to draw each single raindrop that splatters on his armor and such XD''' It takes a while to do, but I always like the end result ^-^
And critisism is good! Now you've said that, I kinda agree that his hair and eyes are a bit to bright (even though they're his official colors). I'll darken it tomorrow and if it looks better, I'll reupload it ^-^ Thanks!
