There've been times where I just couldn't stop imagining about creating my own version of a Guardian Spirit with a story somewhere within the same vein as the Ori games made by Moon Studios. After all, those indie games are amazing, easily some of the greatest things I saw in my entire life as well as one of the reasons I love indie games so much! It wasn't that easy, as I didn't quite know what I wanted to do at the time, but eventually I managed to create Alyx.

I wanted to imagine something that involved Alyx being a very different Guardian Spirit from the others not just in terms of her appearance but also in her abilities. Someone who is able to live and survive without being dependant on a Spirit Tree or anything similar as well as being someone who rather prefers to learn and achieve skills of her own instead of absorbing the light of those who became ancestral trees. As for the guy in the back, his name is Rahu. I wanted to imagine the existance of a darker version of a Guardian Spirit who could have some relationship to Alyx at some point. And despite his appearance, he's not evil at all, he only had experienced some things in the past that led him to what he is now.

In anycase, I'm thinking about what kind of story Alyx and Rahu could have at some point, but I can still say that I had fun working on this. Making the ancestral tree wasn't easy, as I just wanted to try and convey a similar charm that the Ori games were known for and, yeah, it's not perfect but it's better than nothing. Drawing the Moki was also fun, I had to look at some artworks people made of these guys to get some references but it was fun nonetheless.

In the end, all I can say is that I just found very amazing when people made their own characters based on these indie games with their own stories, personalities and abilities as well. Kori, made by KirbyPiedaKirby if I'm not mistaken, has to be one of my favorites not just because of how cute and adorable she is, but she also just so happens to share the same name as one of my characters: Kori Shaoran. It almost makes me imagining the kind of interaction these two could have in someway.
I just feel bad that I didn't get the chance to play either of the Ori games since that my computer isn't powerful enough anymore. But that didn't stop me from making this artwork at all.

Houve várias alturas em que não conseguia parar the imaginar em criar a minha própria versão dum Guardião Espirito com uma história mais ou menos no mesmo ramo que os jogos Ori feitos pela Moon Studios. Até porque esses jogos são fascinantes, facilmente algumas das melhores coisas que alguma vêz vi na minha vida inteira bem como uma das razões de eu adorar imensamente jogos indie! Não foi fácil, uma vêz que não sabia o que queria fazer no momento, mas eventualmente consegui criar Alyx.

Queria imaginar algo que involvia a Alyx ser uma Guardiãn Espirito muito diferente dos outros não só em termos da sua aparência mas também nas suas habilidades. Alguém que consegue sobreviver sem ter que estar dependente duma Árvore Espirito ou algo semelhante, bem como ser alguém que prefere aprender e obter habilidades dela própria em vez de absorver a luz daqueles que se tornaram árvores ancestrais. Quanto ao personagem do fundo, ele chama-se Rahu. Eu queria imaginar a existência duma versão das trevas dum Guardião Espirito que podia ter alguma relação com a Alyx de algum modo. E apesar da sua aparência, ele não é mau, ele simplesmente passou por moments no passado que o levou a ser o que ele é agora.

De qualquer as formas, ainda estou a pensar no tipo de história que a Alyx e o Rahu podiam ter, mas posso dizer que me diverti imenso a trabalhar nisto. Criando a árvore ancestral não foi fácil, uma vez que queria tentar dar o mesmo charme que os jogos Ori davam e, sim, pode não estar perfeito mas é melhor que nada. Desenhando os Moki foi também divertido, tinha que procurar por referencias em desenhos feitos por outros para os desenhar mas foi divertido na mesma.

No final, o que posso dizer é que sempre achei impressionante quando as pessoas criavam as suas próprias personagens baseadas nestes jogos indie com as suas próprias histórias, personalidades e habilidades. Uma delas, a Kori criada por KirbyPiedaKirby se não estiver em erro, acabou por ser uma das minhas favoritas não só por ela de ser muito fofinha e adorável, mas também porque ela partilha um pouco do mesmo nome que um dos meus personagens: Kori Shaoran. Há alturas em que imagino o como estes dois personagens podiam interagir de alguma forma.
Só me sinto algo chateado pelo facto de não ter tido a oportunidade de jogar nenhum dos jogos Ori uma vez que o meu computador não é potento os suficiente nestes dias. Mas isso não me impediu de criar este desenho de todo.
