It takes both of them to "handle" the Captain. Scotty & Sulu are enablers of his crazy ideas. Chekov has hero-worship for Kirk & Spock rendering him useless to both camps. I'm not sure what camp Uhura's in and I don't think anyone else does either (she loves to be a mystery)
