That walkway looks rather unsafe. You should have drawn a reinforced bridge for that poor man to walk down.

This reminds me of a dream I have sometimes.
It's of a really similar place to earth, as in there are people with technology and such, but it's also a place of mystery. I say this because one second there is a city, and the next, you see a black space you can walk through, and at the other side of this "black space", there's another place. Almost like a different world. So, it could be a city, and then a field. It's really strange.
Anyways, that's what this reminds me of.
Great piece.

You know, I had some thoughts lately about the mechanisms of epic fantasy, and this picture is exactly the sort I used to illustrate my explanation!
Epic fantasy uses the juxtaposition of small objects close-up and vast objects in the backdrop to create the illusion of expanse by exploiting the 'negative space' between them; read any epic fantasy story and you will see that mechanism in action. Tolkien shows us the Hobbits having their little conversations and enjoying small pleasures along their journey, with kingdoms and armies and ancient powers moving in the background. Ursula K. Leguinn depicts a tormented young man's struggle against his own arrogance and presumption against a metaphysical exploration of the nature of reality itself. Brandon Sanderson shows us a dysfunctional but genuine romance against the literal end of the world. Daniel Abraham gives us the changing nature of several personal and deeply emotional relationships over the course of a lifetime, while an Empire rises and falls under them. In every case, the differences in perspective create the suggestion of far more detail than is actually present in the text, giving the reader's imagination a space to play around and do the writer's work for him - an agreeable form of slavery, if you like, beneficial to master and servant alike.
Landscape paintings often do the same thing, of course. This painting is an epic fantasy landscape painting that uses precisely that technique, and therefore is an automatic win.

Really nice!
If I may ask, how did you make it?
Prepwork, time, programs etc?
The reason why I ask is that this is the kind of art Im looking forward to be giving birth to in a close future, thou bit new in the teqnices, mostly just sketced with pen and paper before.

Very beautiful work here! Nice little narrative set in some fantasy realm, awesome. The only thing I could think to add is some more detail in the foreground. Since the camera is closer to those objects they would appear clearer; just the parts that are catching the light, like the flowers, etc. Since there's so much fine detail in this image even as far back as that city, I think a few small quick strokes could really add a lot to this. Definitely going to check out your other stuff, keep up the good work!
