Description   Cypress walked into the clearing of the camp as the sun began to lower, causing the auburn autumn trees on his right to cast him in a cool shadow. The log cabin houses surrounded the clearing blended into the background, and the shadows moving about near them where only flashes of eyes in the dark. The majority of the pack was gathered here as they normally did on days like this, cooling off in the shade after the afternoon patrols.
Something was off this time though. Several of his wolves cast sideways glances to him, some murmuring a hello, others not speaking at all and looking towards the ground. The few silver hairs on his reddish brown back rose, but he tried to keep him composure the best he could. Tensions the past few days had been high. Cypress knew it- he heard the whispers behind his back, how his son was planning to challenge him. The doubt in their voices, all wondering if Cypress was still fit to be leader.
“Father,” the voice, like ice breaking in the silence called to him at the far end of the clearing. Stepping out of the main house was Cypress’ only son, standing tall and proud. Almost cocky. “I think it’s time.”
“Time for what,” Cypress stopped and met his son’s gaze.
“You know what for you old fool,” he snarled, taking a leap off the steps, transforming into a wolf midway, and with another bounding jump he landed square into the center of the clearing, never breaking eye contact with his father. “It’s time for you to step down.”
“What for? I’m more than capable to keep leading this pack. Don’t test me,” Cypress’s head was held high, but his spirits weren’t. He did not trust the look in his son's icy eyes, nor the sideways glances from the shadows of the trees from his fellow pack mates, who did not get any closer. He shifted his stance, standing tall and firm.
“Sounds like a challenge to me,” his son growled, his white chin lifted higher than his fathers. With a snarl he leap forward.
Cypress knew he was going to dive in head first, it was what his son always did as much as he tried to teach him not to do that. With a small bounce to his side, Cypress got out of the way just in time, or so he thought. As the son landed, his body twisted to face his father, and he leaped once more at Cypress.
Different shades of reds and browns collided, and tuffs of fur flew away in the breeze like dandelion fluff. The two wolves tangled around the ground for a moment before Cypress found his footing again and stood back up- albeit a bit shakily, giving his son enough time to launch himself back up right at his fathers chest.
The two began to bat their front paws at each other as their teeth snapped, both working their way to climb higher than the other to prove who was above it all. The wolves surrounding just watched silently. Some came closer, others coward away. They all knew the fate of the pack lie in this family feud. No one could intervene, it would be dishonorable to intervene in an Alpha fight. Cypress noticed no one cheering either way, but one wolf, moving closer into the light, his dark muzzle barely more than a shadow. His teeth were bared and his amber eyes shined out like the light from the setting sun. It was Scorch, his beta, posed ready to jump into the fight, but Cypress knew it was not to help him. The little distraction kept Cypress' eyesight for too long as his sons claws split his ear in two. He yelped, and narrowly missed his sons teeth going in for the killing bite to the throat.
In that moment, he saw, the pure hate in his son's eyes. The morals of his pack were gone just like his those many years ago. The mistakes he made in the past could not be fixed, but maybe he could stop his son, before he made the same.
His paw was already reared up above his son's face, and with all his might he slammed it back down, crossing over the furious wolf's left eye. His other paw followed behind but missed his right eye, scratching the side of his face instead. Finally stunned, his son backed up, his face down. Cypress grimaced.
"Scars are forever, just like your mistakes. They can heal but they will always still be there. One of mine was not giving you your proper name. From this point onward you will be known as Snakeroot. If you want your mother's name back you'll have to not make the mistake I think you're about to make."
There was a pause, and the forest and the wolves surrounding them went eerily quiet. Cypress held his breath, glared at his son and waited for a response. Blood dripped from his face, staining the ground that he stared at below him.
"Don't act so high and mighty you murder," Snakeroot's words were barely a whisper, but Cypress could hear them loud and clear. He took a step back, but nearly jumped at the yell from the wolf stepping out of the shadows.
  "Alpha Snakeroot!"
Cypress looked sadly at his beta, who used to be his biggest supporter, turn on him. The words murmured throughout the pack, but Cypress did not hear them. He only saw Snakeroot- his two angry eyes bounding closer to him, and he let them. It was his own fault, he knew that now, and he allowed his mistakes to finally catch up to him.
  "I'm sorry Aria-"
His whispered goodbye was cut short by Snakeroot's teeth punctuating his throat. The world blurred red around him, and with his last few labored breaths he saw his son stand tall.
  "Long live the Alpha!"

Ahhh hope you guys like this! I keep wanting to make more Legendary Wolf stuff because I've been working hard behind the scenes but so many things are spoilers. I mean- this is too but it's something that won't ever be explained in detail like this anywhere, there's also a few thing alluded in here that won't make any sense right now. Featured here is Cypress (top) and Snakeroot (also known as Scar). His old name is kept secret, so sorry if it was a bit confusing there at the beginning. This is the grandfather and father of Wind Rush.

I also wanted to try one of these "fake screenshot" with a story with it. I might do more if people like 'em! Cause this was pretty fun and even though my writing is rusty it was great practice.
