Description
Chapter 1: Utah (Yellowstone)
Chosen Prompt: #2 "You wait until midday to leave. With the morning to prepare, you make sure that your horses are ready, the great is properly stored, and all your rations are accounted for."
------------------------------------------------------
Buckle up! This will be a wild, wild, ride!
If anyone has any questions about anything, sound off below! Could be character interactions, or RPs, etc etc
If you'd like to include this young man in your BGs you are more than welcome to! Just know that if you wish to write him in your stories or anything (even just as a passerby) he only speaks Spanish to his horses! ONLY Spanish! But for your character he'll obviously speak English xD
This may get a bit confusing since I'll write the dialogue in English and I apologize for that
Now onto the start~!
------------------------------------------------------
Arriving to the cold northern states Alejandro took in the fresh air of the frosty afternoon. This was his first official race with a name tagged on his tail, riding for MES.
It was a race based on an old western trail, or tale, he didn't really pay attention to details other than the requirements. But here he was ready to set foot on this adventure and to set the clock back to the Old West.
Back home he debated what kind of character he wanted to portray on the trail. Should he go with the flirty cowboy or more of a Clint Eastwood on the Dollars Trilogy? Celestyal suggested John Wayne but there was no way he was even going to think of stepping into those waters. It was more traumatizing when she had suggested Roy Rodgers, just thinking of trying to sing was cringy enough.
Instead Alejandro settled with a simple Vaquero. He was half Mexican anyways and he would be beyond thrilled to sport the Poncho. But what truly made him more excited was bringing Princessa onto her first event.
The day before the race officially began Alejandro lightly smacked his cheek to make sure he wasn't dreaming. He hadn't felt such excitement since Don Rafael had gifted him Infantete back then. It was truly hard to fall asleep that night, but once his eyes closed the clock turned back to the 1900s.
The layers of clothing did little to keep out the morning's frost. It was exactly the crack of dawn when the young man walked outside to the cold morning. A puff of air manifested itself in an exhale as he made his way to get two buckets of feed.
In the distance he heard the familiar nicker of a certain speckled stallion.
Cerf was impatient to receive his food once the young man was at a close range. Stuffing his head into the bucket, even before it was placed on the ground, he began to feast on his breakfast.
"Look at you, no table manners, not even a good morning!" Alejandro shook his head clicking his tongue. He then made his way a little distance to where a certain lady was patiently waiting for him.
She stretched her neck out to greet him and he rubbed her muzzle in return. The saying went 'ladies first' unless you'd gone by the saying 'leave the best for last'.
Alejandro placed the second bucket on the ground and waiting for Princessa to start eating. He was a bit nervous on how she'd act being away from home for the first time.
The mare looked at the bucket but remained in place. Her eyes lifted to look at the brunet in confusion.
"It's food." Alejandro stated pointing to the bucket. "It's your breakfast, mija." at this the young man crouched down next to the bucket and started swirling the condiments inside.
Princessa took a step forward lowering her head but was still unsure of the wooden bowl. Alejandro gently placed a hand under her chin and brought her head forward. She wasn't used to eating out of 'odd' objects so this was fairly amusing to his eyes, but soon enough she dipped her muzzle into the bucket and began eating.
"See it's not going to bite you," Alejandro said before turning to the sound of thundering hooves. He saw some contestants riding off now that the sun had peeked. Impatience.
Not that it was his business anyways, he was in it for the thrill, but the thought of a memorable title did poke the back of his head like a tick.
Alejandro shrugged it off and continued to prepare before he would set off.
He thoroughly checked his horses' back, legs and warmed them up as the sun continued to climb. Cerf would be his pack horse, hopefully he'd put his stamina to good use and not run off into a mud puddle or get himself stuck in a snowy ditch. But having a mare with him helped lots with his behavior, the rebellious punk died off in the presence of the ladies all thanks to the shyness that overcame him.
Princessa would be his main horse and he specifically had picked her to be the first horse. Her breed was bred for this terrain, for this weather, oh but his intellectual mind sometimes scared him.
With his horses warmed and saddled up, Alejandro placed the poncho over his shoulders.
"Start getting into character, guys" turning the brunet faced his two companions. "We ride off at High Noon."

As I mentioned on Discord, I think the way you handled the soft lighting and the reflection of the metal bucket on the snow gives such a warm atmosphere, despite the obvious chill of winter. Such a thoughtful touch of detail - and your linework is quite clean and precise! I admire that especially since you went with a mixture of digital and traditional here. Well done . Looks like your character Alejandro has a way with horses too - I look forward to seeing him in action as the story continues. Also, I see what you did there with your "high noon." -chuckles-.
