Description

In late 2017 I was commissioned by North Star Games to do a series of drawings in the style of field sketches for the digital version of their board game, "Evolution".
Prior to that I'd done creature avatars for the game, but this prompt was novel. Each drawing was based on a combination of three traits the player could choose for their creature, and would appear as an unlockable reward when certain conditions were met.
I'll gradually post my favorites over time, while there wasn't time to do drawings for every possible trait combination there were still quite a lot of them. It was a fun project and as long as it fit within the style of the game I was largely given free reign to draw whatever came to me. The game is fun too and unique in its natural history and speculative biology theme, I encourage you to check it out if you enjoy strategy games!

The traits for this image were Fertile, Hard Shell, and Foraging. It was largely based on sengi and pangolin.
