When I was a kid, my dad got Final Fantasy Nine to play. I was rather small at the time, so mostly I watched him play. One of the neat things I remember about it is he would name the different characters after members of our family. Rather than give you a list of all the names he gave them - the temptation is overwhelming, mind you - I'll just tell you that when he got to Freya and typed in "Katydid" I could not have possibly been more happy. A badass, red-clad female warrior lady with a spear? Best character already.And then her backstory comes up. Gizmaluke. Burmecia. Cleyra. Fratley.
Long story short, I love this character.
The other day, one of my sisters sent me a link to one of those limited-time-only T-shirt websites that had a silhouette of Freya and her titular quote in gigantic letters. It was definitely well done, but didn't capture the wonder and respect I had always held for this character.
So, naturally, I went and made my own.
