Being a Shrinking Violet has its' pros and cons - You function well in your own space and are able to accomplish basically anything independently, but you struggle with socializing and maintaining friendships. Not to mention the difficulties of expressing your emotions to anyone and worry self-expression is unacceptable.

I have a growing list of people I've met with hopes of making a good and healthy connection with, but 9 times out of 10 we simply don't vibe. Despite being an introvert, I step out of my comfort zone to attempt a friendship, but again, 9 times out of 10 it results in failure. This often leads to a variety of "not gonna work out" signs until marked failed:

Canceled plans.
Too busy to meet up.
Left on read.
Waiting for a reply.
Ghosted.

It sucks and makes the loneliness worse. You wonder what you did, said, or didn't do or say. Maybe it's just that your personality is unlikable.

There can be some hope, though. Some lone wolves are lucky and have 1 or 2 souls we know are there for us. Even if it takes far longer than desired to find them in this wide wide world, they are there and once you enter each other's lives, it's forever.
And the desire to expand the friendship circle decreases, as the value of those few that stick around increases and provides enough love to keep going.

So, even when a Shrinking Violet makes friends with a Carnation and a Daffodil, they'll bloom even in a thunderstorm and torrential rain to stay bright.
