I made an animation tutorial for GIMP on my website ^^ [link]

Sometimes I might have to erase and redraw parts, but usually I can manage with simply moving small areas around ^^ And generally I will draw those areas on separate layers, so that way they don't interfere with the pieces underneath as much. Of course, it all depends on what you're animating too - bouncing up and down can be as simple as moving the top half of the doll down and back up again. Twirling around in a circle though would mean drawing each view separately, so it would take a lot longer.

I would hope that the ideas are even applicable to pixelling a cat XD
So long as you're following the basics - sketching the clothing/hair, tidying the outlines and then colouring, that's basically what pixel art is ^^

Na, that's not too much of a problem ^^ The thing I found most annoying about Paint was picking colours (it just took a little longer than usual) XP But there are palettes out there for use, and it's not too bad after that
