He looks like a dog I lost a few years ago, his name was blue. He looked exactly like this i mean, one of his ears was flopped, the color, even the eyes. I think you should name him Blue it fits him to me. ^^

If you want to go double name consider MudSlide or LastCall but a good name would be Bullet personally I would go with Fate, and if you want to see a dog with blue eyes to help you out, i have a few in my gallery, but by the looks of it you have it perfect

I do love the colors of this character, and they look especially nice in gouache. I am particularly keen on the color gradation in the shoulder (it looks like it goes from white to yellow, rust, and then the darker brown). I am very curious to see where you'll take your gouache paintings as you get more practice.

except i first thought it was a female?? The eyes and the body is sort of slender, but if he's young then it makes sense

You might find that you have some more control of the paint if you let your brush be a little more dry. It looks like you're using a lot of water and a really wet brush. If that's your intent go with it, but you will get a little more finesse if you wipe your brush a bit more after dipping it.
You have some nice blending and wet-in-wet effects going on that lay a nice foundation to be built on.
