Hollywood, you need to understand something: the '90s are over. You can't sell an action movie on "girl power" any more. Audiences WILL and HAVE rejected recent attempts to sell "girl power" movies, the most recent example being the recent release of Elizabeth Banks' Charlie's Angels. If female-led action movies want to have a future, they need to take a few cues from the Charlize Theron vehicle Atomic Blonde. It wasn't sold on "girl power", but rather on the star power Charlize Theron brings with her name and the finely choreographed action sequences courtesy of director David Leitch, a filmmaker who has an extensive background as a stunt coordinator and stuntman.
