I love Star Wars. I hate Star Wars "fans". Now, there are two types of Star Wars fans: the fans, and the "fans". The fans are people who love Star Wars, who appreciate the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, the expanded universe, and maybe want to see some glimmer of hope in Disney's disastrous handling of the franchise. The "fans" are the toxic element within the fanbase, who relentlessly praise the OT as cinematic perfection (when they aren't), who unreasonably despise the PT (despite sharing many of the same flaws as the OT), who harassed Jake Lloyd for his performance as Anakin Skywalker in Episode I until he quit acting altogether, who trashed George Lucas over his remasters of the OT and how the story played out in the PT, whose toxicity grew over the years until Lucas felt he had no other choice but to sell his own company and wash his hands of the franchise. And yes, I do partially blame them for the current state of the franchise, because they asked for it.
