Description
My tribute in video form: [link]It's been 17 years today since Freddie Mercury passed away on November 24, 1991 at the age of 45. I wanted to show him in all of his twenty years with Queen: in the '70s, '80s, and early '90s.
It's kind of weird when I think about it, that I actually shared the planet with him for a couple years. I bet he's probably having some kind of a cosmic ball or something 24/7 now.
We love you, Freddie, and we always will.

"GO LISTEN TO QUEEN NAO!" My subliminal message is working!
The last one is sad... but one of my favorite Freddie moments ever.

Gah, my sister and I were discussing today in the car ride to school. Depression was had. She--this is unlike my sister, mind you--even said, "It's pretty much the worst day in musical history."
This is really great work; the seventies bit is just as hoppin' as can be.

Thanks so much. Yeah, '70s Freddie is my favorite part.
It's hard to imagine that something like that could happen in such a short amount of time - from the picture of health and energy at Live Aid to six years later, barely being able to stand. Tis a shame.

Oh. <3
This is just beautiful, dear. Thank you so much for making it and sharing it.
Seriously, it looks just like him, it's amazing how much you've improved; the upper left 70's one looks like a damn photograph.
It's weird. As much as I sometimes can't even stand to look at him as he was in 90 and 91 - I can't imagine him being alive now either. Being sixty-two (right?), for God's sake. It just doesn't gel. I don't really know WHY that is, as I just saw Brian and Roger in movie-concert, and they're still wonderful... but I don't know.
Maybe he would have actually preferred to be like that. Frozen in time forever and remembered as beautiful and electric and... alive.
Heh. He makes me think funny thoughts. I like it. <3

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it (counting the fav).
"I look back on myself and say I did it for love." That's the lyric I kept thinking of when I was drawing it.
These Are the Days of Our Lives is actually one of my favorite Queen videos. (Dammit, I'm tearing up while typing this! Think of Chris Martin in his underwear, Chris Martin in his underwear...) It is definitely heartbreaking, but I guess it's just what it means. He really let everyone see... and that sudden smile after he says "just a show," knowing how he was so embarrassed of his teeth, I mean even that... it was like he was just letting it all go. Being himself. And that's why he's my hero. (I'm almost bawling dammit, the undies trick didn't work this time. I ALMOST MADE IT THE WHOLE DAY. )
I imagine that if Freddie were alive today he might've had some sensible Botox injections and/or other nips and tucks. He was so vain. I wonder how he'd sound, too, like what awards shows he'd be performing at, if any.
...I find it strange that he would talk in interviews about being dead in 20 years ("Who cares? I don't"). What was he, like 37 at the time or something?
Okay, I'mma stop now because it's getting long and I'm tearing up AGAIN. Alls I know is that when I die, Freddie better not already be reincarnated or something.

Aww, honey it's okay. <3 Seriously. Crying is fine; nobody understands it better than me. Well, maybe Queen fans in general, I don't know. But I certainly feel that way too, so. It's okay.
But yeah. That little smile... jeez. It's beautiful. He's beautiful. (Botox'd or otherwise. xD I really wouldn't want to see him do a whole bunch of crap to his face, though - sometimes people come out of it looking... really awful or just weird. Shatner, Lord love 'im, looks more than vaguely Asian now from all the stuff he's injected into his eye areas.)
But... I'm sure that we'll see him again someday. Wherever we all end up. I'm convinced I knew him in whatever before-life there is, so... the afterlife, more of the same I suppose.

Holy shit, you just like...improved ten thousand times so quickly.
Seriously. This looks amazing. He has a really difficult face to draw, and you nailed it...twice. And the 80's Freddie looks suitably AWESOME.

Wow... thanks a lot!
Yeah, he definitely had a unique look to him, not like really "cookie-cutter" looks. I worked my butt off to get it done to post by the 24th. But Freddie is very much worth it.
Thanks for the fav, too.

I know, he's got curves and sharp lines in his face where you wouldn't expect them to be. They reckon the hardest thing in the world to draw are faces of babies because they're so curved and their features are so strange...well, they've obviously never tried to draw FREDDIE MERCURY.
You're welcome love.
