My dearest friend, if you don't mind
I'd like to join you by your side,
where we can gaze into the stars
And sit together,
now and forever
For it is plain as anyone can see,
We're simply meant to be
I started getting into this 'Tim-Burton' mood, and ended up watching his films like The Corpse Bride & The Nightmare Before Christmas leading up to Halloween, so it was only natural that I felt like recreating and commemmorating the festivities inspired by one of my favourite films. For those unfamiliar, this is the iconic ending scene of the film, The Nightmare Before Christmas, where Jack Skellington realizes his feelings for Sally. Of course, it's my own interpretation of the scene, which I thought was a lot warmer and touching, despite the eerie-cold macabre setting of the film.

Ah, I use Photoshop CS6 and a Wacom Intuos 4, if that helps in terms of what I use? It takes some time to get used to digital painting, but there's a speedpaint video of my entire drawing process for this piece on my youtube channel if you want to see how I do it!

You SO nailed this picture and all that you intended it to express - it does. Thanks for sharing! I love those 2 Burtons animations! Maybe you can add your own corpse bride sometime?

Thank you so much! I can only hope that I did the scene justice, especially for Burton's eyes.
I actually reaaaaly wanted to do Corpse Bride, but maybe another time soon enough!

yeah I love in the movie how they loved each other but never knew that the other one felt for them, and in the end they both just took the chance :3

Love the effect with the sky and the sun. With them in the center of it, there is a very strong feeling of warmth and togetherness with the spiral.

Thanks! It's a very different interpretation to the original scene in regards to the mood of it. The film itself is really cold/dark and macabre, so even the most intimate moments feel quite strange and out of place. I thought that the scene was quite touching and really warm in that respect, hence my interpretation.

Its been years since I seen the movie but they did a very good job of conveying a wide array of emotions with the color pallet that was used. And you did a nice job of keeping the dark aspect with this since everything in the foreground, with a good part of the background is still black.
