This is Shining Nova's drummer, Oscar Fitzpatrick, better known as Obelisk Prime! Obelisk is Slifer's childhood friend, having gone to the same elementary school in Cleveland Ohio. After 5th grade, Obelisk's family had to move out of town to find a better job, so the two friends were forced to separate. Now, there happens to be a major problem with Obelisk's parents. One alcoholic parent was bad enough, but it's even worse if both your parents have drinking problems, as was the case with Obelisk. As a result, he spent a lot of his childhood spending time with Slifer. Once they got separated though, Obelisk was forced to hang out with a street gang during his time in Junior high. Right before his high school freshman year, one of his buddies in the gang got arrested for drug abuse. He turned away from his life on the streets and took shelter in the apartment where Nautilus and Coral were taking residence, intending to stay as far away from his alcoholic parents as possible. The plan proved successful, and Obelisk was able to attend Golden Gate High, where he took part of the school's football team as a quarterback. His main passion though, is the drums, which he started playing when he was twelve. He found that it was a good way to relieve his stress and also that he was very good at it. My story begins at the start of the teens' sophmore year, when Slifer moved in to San Francisco. The two childhood friends were reunited, and their brotherly bond grew even stronger in the course of the story. After Obelisk was rejected by another band, Slifer consoled him by letting him play the drums while he and Emeraude played their guitars. As it turned out, their harmony was perfectly in sync, and when Nautilus decided to join in, the four of them formed the band that is Shining Nova. The exact details of this event will be explained in my story, but the birth of Shining Nova would lead our heroes in a great adventure that would have them competing in the Worldwide Battle of the Bands tournament and propel them to stardom.

For me, Obelisk is a little bit difficult to describe when it comes to his personality, except that he is somewhat similar to Yu-Gi-Oh's Jonouchi Katsuya (or Joey Wheeler as he's better known in America). He tends to be a big eater, but does not like raw meat of any kind ("If the meat's not cooked, I'm not eating it!" he would say). He also enjoys physical activities, which is why he's a drummer and a high school football player. At times he would act before he would think, which proves to be a problem sometimes. But overall, he is very loyal to his friends and bandmates, especially Slifer, and he shares with them a strong sense of justice.

Obelisk make uses of the Air element, which takes the form of thunder magic. By simply striking the drums, he can unleash of torrent of lightning bolts. Outside the stage, he uses a marching tom version of his Triple drum set Thunder Dragon, which he sometimes calls his Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon (Note the Yu-Gi-Oh reference here). If you don't know what a marching tom is, feel free to look it up (The one I'm describing is that of a four-drum set).

On another note, he becomes smitten with Midori, one of the official Guitar Hero characters. In my story, Midori is an exchange student from Japan and while she's a part of her own band, she's a huge fan of Shining Nova.

In this drawing I depict Obelisk from a slight overhead view, from which he is looking up. Note that I have the images of the Blue Eyes Shining Dragon on the skin of the drum (I have no room to draw in all three bass drums), which is not seen in the actual Guitar Hero games from which he and his bandmates are made.
