Description
Para BellumPatrick (Narrating) – The year was 1937.
*Map of the Osean Continent fades in*
*Close up on the border between Belka, Osea and Sapin near the Futuro Canal showing troop movements converging on the border*
The Osean Continent was eagerly gearing up to light itself on fire.
*Shots of various Belkan infantry and armour formations forming up, conducting exercises and marching through several locations*
Holding one of the brightest torches were us, the Belkan Empire, proud masters of a great military with a long and bloody history of excellence and glory on the battlefield.
*Shot of several Belkan general officers in a meeting room discussing strategy over a number of maps*
The truth was, our top brass had been itching for this fight for years.
*Intercut shots of troop movements at several borders, both on-the-ground and on maps*
*Shots of diplomats from several nations having heated arguments*
*Shots of Osean, Belkan and Sapinish soldiers gearing up and tank crews mounting up on their vehicles and rolling them out*
Tensions at the border, diplomatic incident after diplomatic incident, the war at Wielvakia, it quickly became a matter of “when” rather than “if”.
*Shot of a Belkan officer on a phone mounted on a telephone pole; the officer puts the phone down and nods to a sergeant next to him; the sergeant turns around and signals several tanks and infantry squads behind them to march forward*
*Shots of troop movements on maps showing Belkan troops invading across several borders*
*Downward scrolling shot of an Osean newspaper with the headline: “Belka on the Warpath / Belkan offensives sweep through FATO and Recta / President Lambert calls for War”
When the declarations of war came through, we already had our armies at the enemy’s gates, ready to bring the storm without a wasted second.
*Shot of a Belkan flag on a flagpole; as the camera rises above it, a large, bustling airbase comes into view behind it*
*Several pilots form up and salute; shot from the front of said pilots dissolves as each pilot overlaps with a Bf 109 E, the former fading out and the latter fading in and flying across the sky and past the camera in a Vic Formation*
One of the gears in that massive war machine was the Imperial Belkan Air Force, the Emperor’s personal favourite, the new crown jewel of our military.
*Shot from behind of four pilots (Patrick, Michael, Simon and Oswald) walking alongside each other carrying their bags*
And among all those pilots rushed off to the frontlines were four rookies who had absolutely no idea what they were getting themselves into.
*Shot from the front of the same four pilots, excitedly chatting with each other*
Four kids who couldn’t imagine what this war of theirs would have in store for them.
*Several close up shots of each pilot as they talk and respond to each other*
We all had our reasons for being there. Pride, honour, duty, love, all the things that give men a reason to step forward into the fray.
*Shot the leftmost pilot (Patrick) looking to his right towards his companions, chuckling at one of their remarks, then noticing something and turning his head left*
For me, it was a lot simpler than most, maybe. Some wanted glory for themselves, some wanted honour for their country. Me, *heh*, I really only wanted one thing and one thing only...
*High angle shot from the pilot’s backs as they turn around looking up at the sky (Patrick turns half a second before the others)*
*Close up of Patrick as his face lights up with a smile*
To fly.
*Four Bf 109 E’s fly by the pilots from behind and across the sky in a Finger Four Formation*
*Scene fades out*
