Description What if other species had the power to absorb minerals from a planet?

My idea here was to create a scene were you can see the devestating results of harvesting resources from other planets, where chunks of minerals have been removed because of species that use more than they can produce. So they move to atealing or looting other nearby planets.

I was in my destructive mood again, so this one is more of a test on destructive themed pictures and techniques more than anything else.

So here it is, hope you like it and i wish a happy holiday for everyone and a happy new year

1. Those harvester ships must be MASSIVE!
2. I love that you've made the clouds kind of 'spill over' the edge to the excavated area.
3. Masterpiece

yeah, that was my first reaction as well. I mean as far as I can tell those ships look like simple ordinary space shuttles (which NASA used for eg.) thus they should be much more smaller. But they seem to be like almost big enough to be a small moon. If so at least put some heavy industrial ships above it that would look much more realistic.

Kind of like the one in the first Alien only waaaaaay bigger.

*That's not a moon. It's a space station*

I'm assuming they are harvesting minerals at a very fast rate? At the scale of this picture, it'd make more sense to see gravity pulling in every piece of matter into a center. I guess that looks like it anyway. Great idea. I like it! I'm wondering why they'd have to take a big chunk out of the planet as apposed to harvesting layer by layer of the sphere. Well I guess the big chunk seems a lot more theatrical to present. Good job! Keep up the good work.

It was something that came to mind. I guess your method is the best one, but then it would not be any destruction now would it xD. Anyways thanks for the comment, appriciated.

Hi :} what are you thinking of and what do you hear (music) when you are making such a destructive picture? I am curious ^^
I felt a bit sad for the planet, peeling of its soil crust to get to the recources (like the movie Avatar) when they are doing some kind of robber economy....where are the ships to transport these rare and precious minerals? I canΒ΄t remember that the machinery and equipment are on the same transportation vehicle (ok Im watching way too much Ax Men and stuff like that ^^)
I like the stars, some shine brighter, some twinkle..ok a little odd at the left side of the sun, but still ok :} I like the colore, red and black, it fits the mood (it fits my mood during looking at this pic) makes me a bit angry, bit sorrowfull and left a taste of agony in my throat, while watching this planet die.
The only thing I donΒ΄t like is the lower edge of the "big bite"...its too clean, I donΒ΄t know how to say it otherwise (IΒ΄m too tired to think in a different language ^^).
If I have forgot something, or if you want an opinion for a specific detail or sector... remind me
Anne

Hello again Keszanne

I don't listen to anything specific. Actually, under this piece i listen to christmas music (rocking around the christmas tree and all i want for christmas)

But the angle was a little too clean, but i did my best and this was the result. I hope i can make it better in a future project though

Anyways, thanks for the pointer as always

You are very welcome, hon. I enjoy the Sci-Fi yet realistic drawing of space. Besides, there could very well be aliens with this technology, light-years ahead of us in advanced knowledge. hugs! Susan xox

lol Aliens intelligent to do this to a planet would be advanced enough to be among us without our knowing it. hmmmm, scary in a way. they could easily abduct us for experiments. hugs! Susan xox
