Description My completely texturised Sherman Tank.

Any comments, crits welcome.

THis took quite a while to texture as I had to keep on flicking between Photoshop and Max and my poor underpowered computer couldn't handle the two running at the same time. I'd make a texture in Photoshop, wait about 2 mins for max to load, wait about a minute each time I clicked on something and finally I would render a section of the image to see what that section would turn out like.

I've changed the treads since the last render that I submitted. Eventually I hopt to make an entire scene for the tank but I haven't figured out what yet.

I've never seen a Sherman quite like this... but it's fine for not having a good picture reference I guess.

i love the sherman. sure they were no match for panzers and tigers, but they were just a good, solid medium tank. they were cheap enough to mass produce, mobile enough to outflank and destroy german heavies and many tank aces such as abrams were famous for using it's speed combined with aggressive tactics to kick the crap out of bigger, better german tanks.

Looks great Some minor changes would make it more accurate, like slightly more rounded front hatches (the driver and hull gunner hatch)

Good, but the gun seems not to match with the turret, the lower hull is large and I know that Shermans do not have a commander's cupola like that.. Anyway nice work.

Very nice model but the texture simply doesn't have enough noise, scratches and dirt. Sherman tanks came out of the factory with grease stains, lumpy metal and a fairly rough overall finish due to the rushed manufacturing techniques used to get as many as possible to the battlefield. I'd recommend a detailed and comprehensive normal map and bump map. But thats just the way I'd do it.

hi ~Kev

I really like the tank, nicely done, its just these tire belts/rails (i dont know what they are called) the color somehow looks different, somehow not blending in! Well it might be just me,and i've not seen the tank either!
But overall its a job very well done..
Keep it up!

very nice, model looks fairly clean (poly-use wise)... textures got a great start on. As for adding grunge and grit to it, i like what u did with the wear and tear on the decals. Before u dirty it up more from previous suggestions, it wuld actually depend on the scene u place it in... if its storming down the countryside and laying surpressing fire i guess it'd be pretty dirty. But from what i've seen they generally dunt let mud cake over the tanks when they are left at base (from personal experience the vehicles at my old cadet corp were ALWAY kept clean, not sure how pro's treat their vehicles, but i'm guessing they are top notch unless there is a war going on)...

well i guess this is getting long... basically if its going to be put in a homebase environment keep it fairly clean with the grunge focused on edge scratches and such. Whereas on the field, most grunge focused on mud, dirt, some bumpmaps for scratches shuld do fine...

: ) anyways its up to u, it looks great as is... u got a lotta talent, hope u keep working at it!!

Damn, this is so nice! You did a great job with the skinning. I was making a tank myself but it got way too complicated....maybe i will finish it someday.

Great work man.

i agree with first comment: a tank should not be that clean. the textures could have more detail overall. but the model is actually very cool. just the main gun muzzle looks a bit weird, but it could be me..

Great work!!! But you did it more animation stylized rather than real; textures are too clean and smooth!

Still it's awesome!
