Description Hey! They put "Distraction Guy" in Street Fighter X Tekken!!

Ok, just kidding. It's supposed to be Mega Man from the original North American box art.

Still, the resemblance is UNCANNY, and now I will not be able to play this game without yelling "WILY WON'T DEFEAT HI'SELF, MAGGOT!!"

Regardless of the uncanniness, I will still play him with pride.

And to the naysayers, it's freakin' "Old-School" Mega Man. You could do with a lot worse. =_=

I give props to Namco and Capcom for giving Pac-Man a freakin' wooden robot.

It's not old school Megaman! That's just how he looked for the American BOX ART. Kinda like how bowser was blue with yellow hair in the original Super Mario box art. Megaman always was a robot (who looked like a kid) in blue armor with an arm cannon!...with that said I still find this funny.

JamesTheReggie In reply to Digiwario [2012-01-27 23:47:35 +0000 UTC]

meh, whatever floats your boat. I'll still call him old school since technically Non-Japs didn't get properly introduced to him as a robot until after Mega Man II (since Mega Man 3's Boxart showed him off correctly).

But whatever, I like what Capcom did with Mega Man in SFxTekken, even if almost no one else does.

Definitely his later years, he's gathered a little weight since the box art was made

Lots of Megaman fans are getting pissed.
If they called him "Bad Box Art Megaman" instead of "Megaman" then it wouldn't be so bad.

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 06:15:21 +0000 UTC]

No, it'd still be bad. Megaman, no, Capcom fans have become like dogs in the manger. They'd whine over everything. They even think stealing is justified.

I didn't say I was hacking. I say let the hackers hack.

I hate Capcom, cancelling Megaman legends 3 was a dick move, and they can eat a dick.

"I hate Capcom, cancelling Megaman legends 3 was a dick move, and they can eat a dick."
Wow, in just one post you went from reasonable into a whiny fanboy.

Megaman Legends 1 and 2 didn't sell. The 3DS didn't sell. Do the math.

Are you completely willing to forget the awesome that they've done? Like giving you a fourth Street Fighter after so many years? Or a third Marvel vs Capcom after a long period? Or a crossover between the top two fighting games?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:30:34 +0000 UTC]

3DS has already outsold the DS's first year now.
I'm sure Legends 3 would've sold great nowadays.

I'm not a fighting game fan sorry.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 21:33:49 +0000 UTC]

At the time, the 3DS was failing. Hard. Most of the titles for it were shovelware.

How do you know Legends 3 would've sold well? Do you have some logic for it, or just pointless optimism?

The point is, Capcom has done as much good as bad. Are you going to forsake the numerous bones they've thrown at us just because of how Megaman's been handled? And don't give me the "Megaman is Capcom's mascot" excuse. He's not. Ryu is. And he's been treated pretty well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:37:46 +0000 UTC]

They could've waited for it to pick up the pace.
Because, the internet exists now. Games like Ace Attorney wouldn't be as big without it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 21:40:51 +0000 UTC]

Game successes are not measured by overall sales. They're measured by first week sales. Megaman Legends 1 and 2 didn't have good first week sales.

The internet existed when Legends 1 and 2 were out. It wasn't enough. Besides, the internet wasn't enough to push Ace Attorney to the point where it got a new game. It may have been popular in the US for a while, but not as popular as it was in Japan.

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:41:48 +0000 UTC]

Capcom should learn to Market their niche games then.

Did you see any commercials for Ghost Trick?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 21:43:04 +0000 UTC]

Actually, no. I was too busy looking at the commercials for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:43:37 +0000 UTC]

Those games aren't as niche though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 21:44:53 +0000 UTC]

The point is that there are certain titles that simply take priority over others. Marketing focuses on mainstream successes, not cult successes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:45:31 +0000 UTC]

Then Capcom should put more marketing into the lesser games, so they do sell well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 21:48:34 +0000 UTC]

I don't think it works like that. Marketing knows that people are more accustomed to familiarity. If there exists something that would be more popular among mainstream sources, then they'll try and focus on that. I think Darkstalkers 4 has a chance because it's based on the Street Fighter engine. Ask any of your friends outside the internet if they've heard of Ghost Trick or Ace Attorney, then ask them if they've heard of Street Fighter or Marvel vs Capcom. You might be surprised by the results. Or not.

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:49:44 +0000 UTC]

My best friend is an Ace Attorney fan, and he wants to get Ghost Trick.

Megaman was familiar.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 21:51:24 +0000 UTC]

The point is that the general public would care more about something that was really popular in the nineties rather than something they've never heard of. I know it's sad, but it's just how marketing works.

"Megaman was familiar."
Megaman Legends specifically?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:53:21 +0000 UTC]

While Legends 1 and 2 didn't sell well in their time, they have gotten a big fanbase. So of course it'd sell.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 21:58:16 +0000 UTC]

But how many casual gamers would purchase it? You have to think about the mainstream.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 21:59:43 +0000 UTC]

You mean the punks who only buy CoD?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 22:01:50 +0000 UTC]

Actually, yes. Call of Duty has brand name recognition. Megaman Legends specifically doesn't. Megaman on its own may have it, so we might be able to expect another Classic game.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 22:03:08 +0000 UTC]

I'd only want another classic game if they connected Classic to X.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-27 22:04:00 +0000 UTC]

That'd only happen if X proved popular. The problem is that X7 and X8 didn't sell. Megaman 9 did.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RoboGuy9000 In reply to Darkton93 [2012-03-27 22:30:43 +0000 UTC]

That's because X7 and X8 were crap.
9 was awesome though.
10 was meh.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Darkton93 In reply to RoboGuy9000 [2012-03-28 00:01:02 +0000 UTC]

Due to simple rules of product selling, X7 and X8's failure more than likely killed the X series, just as Superman III and IV killed that movie series. It'll be a long time before we see another X game.
