Description
I had actually conceived and drew most of this comic over the weekend and was hesitating to post it due to recent events. I think itβs something important that folks need to remember though. Still, my apologies if it offends. Be safe and take care of each other.Related content

thanks
yea, if nobody is gonna help the least I had to do was to fight back and I don't regret it, just like my bullies don't either.
so unfair
but, who knows, it took almost 10 or even more years to my bullies' lives to to collapse, so soon or later things get to their propper balance.

Hmm... This is also the case in many instances of abusive relationships. I think it's a form of gaslighting

Is this a reference to something or just to bullying in general?

The bully changes the situation so they may seem like they are the victim, and a bully can do this in any number of ways. The bully does it to feel good about themselves, or just superior to others, whatever the reason, the bully will make their victim feel helpless or just not wanted in the world.

You know I never actually thought pretentious assholes as bullies, but yeah they are. The internet is plagued by bullies!

A bully in the most simple terms is one who wants to harm others for a ill defined reason.
And yes. Yes it is.

Most people I know were once bullies for someone and were bullied by someone else. It is not such a clear cut thing with bullies on one side and victims on the other. Usually people prefer to remember the victim moments and ignore the times when frustration made them bullies. I don't say that innocent victims don't exist, but we can't fix the problem if we don't see the complexity of this behavior.

That actually does make a lot of sense.Β It can also be like the saying, crap rolls down hill.Β A lot of the time, bullies were once bullied themselves, and they may see it as some kind of twisted hazing ritual, such as the way upperclassmen will treat those of lower grades.Β I mean, for those who have made it through high school, who doesn't remember either being pushed around by a group of seniors during their freshmen year, and then during their senior year doing the same thing to freshmen?Β But of course that is one scenario that is usually of the less severe sort.

Over 40 years ago, my god the time, I remember the 6th grade and this kid that would torment me in home room. Finally he messed with me and knocked my glasses off and I went ballistic on him. I remember hitting himΒ several times andΒ vaguely remember the teacher slapping me/us with a ruler while I was pummeling him on the ground. Probably more like bitch slapping him but you know memories. The principal apologized that he had to spank us with a paddle because the teacher was very upset. Where was the bitch when he was hassling me? My Dad came to get me and was proud that I stood up for my self but then the principal referenced 'the smaller boy' that I fought. I guess that disappointed my Dad. That memory has stuck with meΒ all these years.Β Β Β Β Β

I was never bullied in high school (probably because I was a 230lb 6' 5'' guy), even though I was considered one of the weird kids.
But I do know that it happened in my school.

The winners/survivors write their textbooks. American war history is not nearly as honourable and glamorous as most people think it was.

To me, this pretty much defines bullies and those so-called "Anti-bullying Campaigns"...
As much as they say they help, they really don't. :/

βThat's what education should be," I said, "the art of orientation. Educators should devise the simplest and most effective methods of turning minds around. It shouldn't be the art of implanting sight in the organ, but should proceed on the understanding that the organ already has the capacity, but is improperly aligned and isn't facing the right way.β

As an ex-bullying victim, I can really identify with this. My bully always acted like the victim around my teachers, and I got detention for things he did.

Actually kind of poignant, really. Some of the worst bullies are the ones who can create the illusion that they are somehow weaker than their victims, or otherwise somehow make themselves out to be the victim, making their cruelty seem lesser. And of course, twisting perception is one of the biggest elements of abuse. You've done well here.Β

Doesn't it always seem like the bad guys are always "UGGHHH THE PEOPLE WE HATE ARE STUPID AND DUMB AND INFERIOR AND WE'RE SO MUCH BETTER," but then in the same breath can go "WHY ARE THE PEOPLE WE HATE CONTROLLING THE WORLD AND RUNNING BIG EVIL PLOTS AND DESTROYING THE EARTH AND RUNNING CONSPIRACIES TO DOOM MANKIND??"
'Cause whoever the bad guys' target is, apparently they're in control of everything AND dumb as dirt. Like, no, you can't have both. One or the other!!

The offender often ends up making themselves look like the victim, when the real victim gets blamed. That has a lot of drama flaring up recently.Β
