As she lay dying Miraa (a witch) made a deal with a goddess of death leaving her soul trapped in a gemstone for more than a hundred years. Through the use of necromancy and other magical disciplines Mirra has a new body and a new mission. She must track down her killer (or killers?) before they strike again this time at her husband (still alive and well after all these years.)
