Description

Oilgraph on wooden panel // 24” x 32”

From Judges 12:1-6.

When a conflict arose between Gilead and Ephraim, Jephthah took the men of Gilead to the river Jordan and waited for the Ephraimites to cross. In order to distinguish "friend from foe" they asked the Ephraimites to pronounce the word "Shibboleth" which they could not. For they could only say "Sibboleth," for they had no 'sh' in their dialect.

Anyone who said Sibboleth was killed. And 42,000 of the tribe of Ephraim were killed.

Shibboleth has come to mean a custom, principle or believe that distinguishes or divides people groups, namely one which is considered "lesser."

Featured here:  He Is With YouI asked God to choose the song for this feature. He chose this one to say that He is with each of us, no matter what we see, and remind us that even in the darkest of circumstances, He still loves us. The world may fall apart, but Jesus is still with you, willing to help. If you have the privilege to know that, you are blessed, but if not, know that He has sent His Spirit, The Comforter, to give you peace that passes understanding. He will not abandon you, He will be with you in troubles. John 16:33 "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
With that being said, here now are the features for mid-November. Please share your appreciation and support of your fellow artists--a big round of applause!
Love,
Debra

Wow. Fabulous (appropriately enough for a fable). Powerful work, thank you for letting us see a glimpse of this.

You created the essence of the minds that stirred that incident perfectly.

That is certainly one of the more puzzling stories to be read in that book. Pride is not a virtue.

Nothing new under the sun, is there?

Hatred and genocide have been around a long, long time, especially in the most raw of all books.

A beautiful image of monstrous evil.
