The true Christian life is to consider every storm as an opportunity to rejoice, that we would be considered worthy enough to suffer for the name of Christ.

Chemistry-wise; if the rain doesn't fall, pretty soon we'd have horrible trouble getting tasty oranges or other fruits to eat, or things like bread, and our agricultural economy that's necessary for other industries to exist would implode.
So yeah, I'm with you on this, even from the perspective of a strict materialist I'd agree with this assessment.
