Contradictions such as the time that Jesus was crucified/died are in part due to the audience. Β For instance, Matthew was written for Jews, and Mark for Romans/Gentiles. Β The Romans began their day at midnight, while the Jews did not, but rather from the evening before. Β To a Roman, "The sixth hour" would be early in the morning while to a Jew it would have been midnight or noonday. Β So that's the explanation for one of the contradictions.
