Description
Because I like to have fun with original character concepts.A doodle that I started to have fun working with, so I knew I wanted to finish it and get it to colour so I could mess around with all the reds, pinks and greens. I'm also trying out some new things like the eyes - I'm still working on them, but they're fun. :3
Yes...I have a love for drawing ringlet curls...and strawberries (though rasberries are the tastiest...yup!yup!). Strawberries just look prettier.

Oh, wow, she's very pretty! You've got a gift with those ringlet curls; I can barely make straight hair. -_-' I love how you managed to make her shapely without that nasty anorexic look.
That's right, Barbie, I'm talking to you!

Wow. I love it when people mess around with their style. The results are totally different, and beautiful. I loved your other style, but changing the eyes totally changed it up. It's sooo pretty! The first thing that comes to me is the hair. It looks totally delicious. I want to eat that hair! The ringlets are great!
I adore the tone of her skin. It looks absolutely healthy, and so bright. What color marker do you use for it? The shading! It's sooo skillfully done.
I like her dress. All those colors~ They go perfectly together. It kind of looks like a skirt made of ribbon. How beautiful! Also, the gold lacing on the corset really stand out. Those poofy sleeves are really awesome. It makes me want to (attempt) to sew a dress like that!
Lastly, the background is so beautiful. I'd be so afraid to use Gouache on the background, for fear of getting it on the marker work. But you did a great job with it! It blends so well, giving a beautiful cloudy look to the background. The splatters of paint on the picture are great too. Splattering paint is so much fun, isn't it? Great job!

As for the skin tone, I used a couple of Tria Markers for it. Can't remember their pantone numbers (Tria doesn't technically have 'names') though I do know that they originally came with the shojo Tria set. X3

Hun, you don't know me, I was directed here by a friend of yours :iconjade-bever:, if you got a daily favorite more power to you! if people attack you because of that well then, heh yeh, I'd say they're jealous.
It seems we both got attacked by immature tards on/around the same date; I've browsed your gallery before but never thought to comment, I think your are is awfully lovely!
I too have problems with idiot's who don't know how to understand "discouraged critique" just ignore them hun, and congrats on the daily devination!
Remember... we obvously managed to acquire our friends here on dev art that we've made because they're attracted to our art; or personalities; don't let them get you down. Some people forget how to offer constructive criticism :\

I happen to think the art is lovely and very well detailed. Obviously people have different tastes, but if you don't like it, that's fine, you don't have to put the poor woman down after she worked really hard on it. Clearly.

I can draw anime just choose its very not me. An of course being sixteen has absolutely no relevance to anything. You might as well keep sighing because it seems you are the ones who are jelous of something. I'm not the one watching this deviation... You keep sending 'me' comments. Replying to 'me'. So don't come to 'me' with the prattle.

I can guess that you don't like anime-style art. If not, then do you have something against Keysha-chan? The coloring is magnificent, and she's obviously no amateur. This isn't one of those 'I doodled it in class, and colored it quickly' things. Then again, your opinion. Critique Discouraged is there for a reason. Keep it to yourself.

Of course, I love anime and no I don't have anything personal against 'Keysha-chan' In my experience of knowing anime and obviously growing tired of it. I only see the great things as what they are. This, I can tell is a doodle, but the only reason I have the remorse or any single disregard to the artists is because its been daily favorited. I simply believe it could have been awarded to someone more worthy. Someone like -patches- or majinthing works would be more appreciated. As for the Critique Discouraged post, I keep saying that I've never 'bashed' anyone yet. I've technically still kept my comment.

Then I guess I'll bring up a few questions. Why are you still going on about this, JGT?
Just because a picture got so many favorites, why do you feel the need to critisize other's tastes in art?
And lastly, what do you have to gain, even, from continuing this argument, conversation, whatever you perfer to call it?

JGT In reply to jakfan12 [2006-06-10 06:06:12 +0000 UTC]
I'm not going on about this. If you think its critisism then you are dead wrong. Ive said it before but no need to say it again. Gaining anything is not my goal. The simple act cease, is just as simple as you not talking anymore. No ambition can change the clout of time. And my decisions, not arguements, are final yet at least sincere. If you can't at least give me that dignity then its heedless to say yours is at prospect.

I was refering to the fact that you were critisizing others, which you are doing, not critisizing the piece of art.
What dignity? All you're doing is making a horrible, hated name for yourself by insulting art and those who like it (as well as those trying to defend someone who is a wonderful artist, who really puts herself into her art and loves it), being a condoncending know-it-all, and and a selfish artist.
And if the simple act cease, then it's just as simple as you not talking anymore as well.

This picture deserves a fav just as much as anything *-patches- or *majinthing have done. We love it for many reasons. You're not wrong for having your opinion, but insulting those of us who do like the artwork is a very snide and snotty thing to do. Kai, like many other artists, gets top favs because her artwork is solid and because she is very personable. She appeals to us. Telling us that we have poor tastes because we like the things we do is deplorable, and makes your opinion count for less.
Worse than that is the fact that you haven't backed up your reasoning at all. Even eloquently worded, what you've done is bashing. You have no reason to insult anyone. This is a beautiful piece of work. Keysha-chan may not be the best, and she's most definately not the worst, but she tries with all her might--that's worth 10,000 daily favs in my book. Whether or not you think so is irrelevant to the rest of us.

I'm sorry... you lost me at "is deplorable". A simple caper upon words won't get me addled. I'd just like somone to come to a realization point and tell me what kind of cretin disguise one would try to disembogue upon a community to tell us what is being consonant. Insolence is the price to pay for an opinion for appraisal. I feel that this many artists are using 'anime' as a paradigm for what the definition of art has doubtlessly become.

Which would be you.
Your own artistry is threatened here, therefore, you insult it, thinking it would make a difference. The human reaction to something that makes them feel inadequate is to try and belittle it. It hasn't worked in your favor. Her art, or any anime art, for that matter, is not going to cease it's influx onto DA. You've essentially blacklisted yourself amongst these artists. Who would want to look at your artwork now? Not they, that is for sure. Whether or not the opinions of those of us with 'poor taste' as you would say it is up to you, however there is more than one respectable artist that has been insulted here, and chances are, if they'd read it, they won't forget it.
In the end the only person you've damaged is yourself. Mob mentality has worked against you--you've nary but made Keysha-chan's fanbase stronger. No one feels quite insulted by you as they feel sorry for you, that you can't join in with the love of art for art's sake because you have to be a snob about what goes on the front page. Make your own website if you think the popular artwork here is so poor. Don't try to insult those far more talented than yourself, and yes, I have seen your page.
You've been fighting a losing battle, and you've lost.

*laugh* "Who would want to look at your artwork now?"
Do you honestly think you sound anythng more than just a child to me? You talk about 'blacklists' and 'mentality' and 'damaging'. Which one might perseve to be the majority of these so called 'artists' who can believe they are or ever will be. I'm not, or ever saying that the Anime-style is art. But take a gander of all those comments. I've not seen one person who seems to yet be a 'poser' in minds definition. That simple words or emotions can be felt over one simple 'doodle'
You say I've been fighting a losing battle. But I don't wish to insult a fragile mind in telling you, that the battle isn't for what you or I or anyone were ever talking about. Your simple attempt of 'impact' is a that of elementary and fatuous. The only reason I ever commented was to prove to you all something about yourselves. I need to prove to you, you need to 'grow up'. But with your daft attempts in laconism, I can only begin to say exactly what you've said to be what it is. One-hundred words wasted.

Your abuse of the thesaurus isn't a waste of words?
Until you grow up a successful whatever-it-is you wish to be, more successful than I or Keysha or whomever you wish to insult, your arguments are nothing but a poor attempt at trying to persuade 'intarweb punks' that you can actually speak the English language without sounding like a dullard with a dictionary within reach.
There's no passion behind what you say--your critiques or insults or whatever you think you're doing here is the blind hatred of a style you don't understand.

I don't need a thesaurus to strengthen any of what I say. And you can trust me in saying that I'm already sucessful enough in 'what I want to be doing' anyway.
Why would I need passion if theres none here anyway, remember? It still makes you sound childish when you say things like, "A style you can't understand " Get over yourself. If you're so great at arguing why don't you do it over something more useful.
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
Kyrie-Sanctus In reply to JGT [2006-06-11 09:05:06 +0000 UTC]
My cause is useful to me. Whether or not you agree with me is your own opinion.
I don't know what you mean by 'here', but if it's of the artwork you speak, be it mine or Kai's, the passion is fervently there. Whether you see it or not is just the depth of your artistic eye--take that as you call it.
You remind me of an art teacher I once had--she walked about saying that the anime style is 'stupid cartoons' and that it's not a real art style, quite like you are, yet she couldn't draw to save her life. After thinking about it, the students of hers I still talk to all agree that the reason why she didn't like it was because she couldn't comprehend it, she couldn't mimick it, and she hadn't taught it. Hence why I feel this way about you now. It's obvious that you don't understand why her art is popular, or why we feel it's good. Hers is a style you've yet to understand.
You instigate arguements by say harsh things with nothing to back them up but a poor attitude. I know you're not successful at anything but what you're doing--popping off at the mouth. If you were, that would be more important than trying to tell someone who stands up for what they believe in that they are 'childish.'

Her"s is a style you've yet to understand"
Stop being a fool. Let the discharge of any word from your mouth not come from you, but at least from your brain. I've said then and before that I do love the anime style. And this 'poor attitude' you speak of is simply the illusion of your hatred for somone who doesn't go about liking the same thing as you do. If you can overrate something to an extent where it becomes 'scene' then you should probably be looking over your prerogative.
I practically misunderstood-- didn't understand any other word you said in that whole comment. Yet I can tell you that an artist once said that "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up" But not only did Picasso have the ability to be himself, as any artist should... He was able to feel and eventually 'understand' the emotions of everything that he felt. Which is why I simply am 'encouraging' artists here on deviantART to do the same.

You know, after all of this bashing of Keysha-chan, you never once gave a reason as to why you disliked this piece. Okay...I'm going to step in here about this, seeing as how people are replying to this and I'm afraid of things getting out-of-hand as they have done in the past.
First off, I hope no one offended you as to your taste in art. I understand that I can not impress everyone with my artwork and respect that fact. In the same way, I'm not impressed with other artwork about but that's simply my personal taste (which, I can assure you, goes well beyond anime. ;3) - and others may highly dissagree with me.
What I do need to point out is that daily faves is a bunch of crap here on DA that people take far out of hand. Seriously, I know for a fact that there are a hell of alot of highly talented artists (not just limited to anime) scattered about DA that deserve attention far more than me. I have it, and with it comes alot of stuff I don't care to have. However, I've been on DA since 2003 promoting my work, and as such - more people know of me, which tallys up a deal in the end when it comes to what kind of work will get on the daily faves.
I have utterly NO control over any of my artwork getting on the daily faves - other than not submitting my work. However, I enjoy sharing my work with others and don't wish to stop simply for the fact that people hate me because I got on the main page when someone else didn't - it's just the same as people who get chosen for a Daily Dev - some get alot of abuse because some think that their piece of art doesn't deserve the lime-light.
As I said before, I'm not out here to please everybody. I'm here to share my art and interests with others. As a matter of fact, I am highly happy that this piece got attention as it was one of my original creations rather than a piece of fanart - that alone makes me happy. Not the fact that it had a Daily Fave, but the fact that people took interest in it. As for the anime style, it's something that I enjoy using for artwork that I display on Deviant Art. I could post sketches from my life drawing classes (which is not in an anime form, I promise. ;3), 3D modeling work ect, but I choose not to. The artwork featured here is something I do for fun and to unwind...not everyone on DA likes to use their gallery as a portfolio. I also wouldn't worry about people like ~patches and co. I've seen her work on the daily faves before, so i can guarentee you she is doing very well for herself. :3 Hell, I watch her work as well.
Infact, the only thing that insulted me was you saying that I 'have many, untasteful, friends'. I thought that was very unfair to tell people that their taste is bad - we are all open to what type of artwork we choose to admire and like. And not all the people who faved are my friends...alot of them I have no clue as to who they are - just passing through my gallery? Who knows.
Oh, and as for the 'no crit' selection, that was simply because I had finished this piece and wanted to move onto the next thing, not continue working on this one some more.
To those who have supported me - thank you for replying and saying such nice things about me, but you do not need to protect me from the big bad world out there. We have to learn that there ARE going to be people out there that hate your art and will say negative things about it...just one more step in the hard road an artist faces.

I've said it before but there isn't much need for it twice.I haven't said anything bad about you and your art. I am one to believe that admiration does not come only by the price of a worship. To admire simply alows one to endure the satisfaction of the basic 'company' of others. And in the end we must understand that we are all here to simply, admire.
