Took this one last semester while walking around a park downtown. Overgrown Ivy on a wall is accentuated by a single street lamp. I set up my tripod and gambled on a f/5.6, 16sec shot on Fuji Provia. I loved the end result.Related content

That's got great tone and texture but I sort of wish that the light source wasn't so obvious.

god that is amazing. The tones run together and the depth is nearly hidden yet the result is as you state, surreal. It almost looks like a relief from a frontal shot.

Interesting. I like the almost monocrome pallette of colors that appear. The vines on the wall are realy what make this photo seem otherworldly. I'm curious what this photo would have looked like if shot on tungsten baalanced film.

This is incredibly good. Perhaps my favorite in your gallery. The thumbnail had that Gigerish feel to it, but seen up close it is more than that, the organic complexity of it is powerful but slightly muted by the perfectly fitting focus. It's both dreamlike and intense. Love it!

Oh a very matching title you choose there What came to my mind when I saw this was: Hey that looks pretty surrealistic like a background drawing for a Final Fantasy game or something. Pretty interesting shot and the color tones give it a great feel.

That is lovely! I am reminded of childhood dreams filled with fairies and princesses lost in an enchanted forest while evil queens plot against their hearts. Somehow, though, this image is very real. Hyper real.

The way that the light has picked up on the grass and vines is fascinating, surpassed only by the complex pattern of the climbing planty thing on the wall. It does look like something from a sci-fi film, and really plays on the imagination.

the vines growing up against the wall are so intricate and amazing... this is truly an excellent shot. i really like it a lot.

It reminds me of two things- crinkled saran-wrap, and one of those fake havitats you find in museums, where they have recreated some primordial enviroment. Very interesting.

The composition and lighting are absolutely perfect. This surreal effect has a magical feel to it. It looks like we are looking at a doorway to the land of the fairies; only they have covered it with vines so we ordinary mortals cannot come in.
