Not many people care about real fighting.Β  These are dance costumes, for fighting-themed dance (see RWBY, I bet that's how these characters move).

JRXTIN In reply to J-sunrise [2015-04-05 21:49:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, if you're thinking in terms of realism, at no point in world history have we seen a combination of medieval technology and cute girl fighters, but there's so many of these characters being done now you'd think it was the norm.Β  The reality is, if you read between the lines, these are very traditional dancing girls.Β  They're like Roxanna in the movie Alexander.Β  They come out and dance, then the hero screws them and his men are able to get it up for the women they're with.

I can't say I wouldn't or haven't done these types of characters myself.Β  The reality is, if you want to move any kind of volume to the masses, you have to deal in the base human instincts.Β  If you can work in a little bit of egghead stuff, you've accomplished a miracle. Β

you think art is meant to be either

1.) visually stunning

or

2.) practically accurate?

it's completely obvious that they're not practical. pointing it out makes you look stupid.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

J-sunrise In reply to Shorjok [2015-04-04 15:17:24 +0000 UTC]

The artist is depicting them as fighters. I have a hard time imagining them fighting and not dying in the first 20 seconds or not stumbling in their heels withing the first 5 and then dying.

So I am confused about what the artist wants them to be? Fighters or eye-candy?

Was Mickey Mouse looking like a realistic mouse ? No. Did Walt Disney want him to look like a real mouse ? No. So no problem in fantasy armors either, except for women stupidly jealous of fictive characters, puritans and attention-seeking white knights.Β

Recognizing that something isn't realistic when realism wasn't the point makes you come off as a condescending jerk.

While its true that the Pointy parts on the thighs are a bit dumb because the are going to stitch her , just remind that most of Historical warriors from archaic ages wore Very light or No Armor specially in the Bronze age.

Shorjok In reply to J-sunrise [2015-04-04 17:51:34 +0000 UTC]

Eye candy wearing armour. Both. I don't see your problem.

If you're making a judgement about their ability to fight just by looking at them you clearly don't know how fighting works. You don't just automatically win by virtue of having more armour. Oberyn Martell won against The Mountain despite the fact that he was wearing simple leather, whilst his opponent was wearing full body armour - steel plate, chain mail and boiled leather. If you have no idea what I'm talking about: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS2IYy…

Not Practical? You haven't played many video games lately then, this is standard female armor for all plate wearing classes.Β

Aoyaibaba In reply to J-sunrise [2015-04-04 16:19:57 +0000 UTC]

well actually they don't need to fight. Cause the sheer stunning look and sexy is more than enough to make their opponents drop their weapons, on their knees and be at full mercy

Black-Card In reply to J-sunrise [2015-04-04 15:53:00 +0000 UTC]

Well, yeah, to viewers like you and I, the armor is ridiculous and would never be taken seriously.Β

But I'd like to think that in the artist's own imaginative world, this would be okay.
