No, seriously, is this just a weird optical illusion because of the fast moving rail, or is there something actually happening, that I'm not noticing? I want to know as an animator. This is such a nice effect.

xD Yeah it's an optical illusion because of the parallax. Since the railing is moving fast and the pole with the seagull is slower, your brain gets the pattern that things are slower as they go farther back in the picture, so your brain makes the background creep along even tho it isn't actually moving.Β
Sorry for the run-on sentence, I couldn't figure out how else to explain it. Hope that helps!
