The point is, these are the resolutions of the background textures themselves. The higher you put this the better it will look. You can get them all the way to 2048 which is what we are all running them at.
It has nothing to do with what the games overall resolution is like. These are textures. If you are running the game in 1440 that's fine, but you'll want these to be maxed.
