"ATTENTION!"

pairs of pegasi whom were assigned together stood straight as the teacher trotted down the line.

asteria stood at attention as ordered, her wings tucked tightly to her sides and her eyes focused. she would make her mother proud, she would be the best. she kept her eyes straight ahead, when suddenly--

"hey, you're really pretty."

the dark gray embodimentt of a night time sky turns sharply, her thin feathers ruffling as she bristles at his comment. "beg your pardon?" asteria says sharply, her chin raised as she looked down on the golden colored pegasus mare. asteria scanned her for any sort of out of place details, but the only comments she could note was her extremely calm and relaxed manner, she'd almost mistake her for some sort of rando who'd wandered up.

"you're really pretty." she says again. asteria blinks, wait a second. the her is actually a he, had he never spoken she'd almost mistake him for a filly.

"excuse me, sir. but you--"

"can i draw you?"

the gray alicorn's horn nearly errupted in bright gold prickles of electricity. who was this pony? asking her so casually to draw her? oh he would get such an earful from her, an earful of magic, an ear full of coursing sparks---

"ASTERIA ACHYLS GLORY MOONBEAM!"

"present!"

ah yes, a strong friendship forming indeed huh?

these two are about 8 or 9 in this picture, this is their first day of flight school. and every flier is paired with another, because pegasi are very social creatures it is highly reccemended they stay in groups for protection and safety. in this case, aster and sunny got paired up.

their friendship starts off rocky but i can assure you, things get better. eventually. sorta--well.. it comes along.

trivia-----
- sunny is very detail oriented and very much tends to read body language before anything said so through her demenor he automatically thought it was okay to ask if he could draw her.

- aster isn't super good at compliments, luna does compliment her a good amount the time but aster doesn't really take notice and here she thought that sunny was mocking her

- it's respectful to your elders in pegasus culture to fold your wings around them, but sunny grew up around unicorns so he would never know this.

- their teacher here isn't meant to be a drill sargent really he's just really dedicated to his old military roots as he's a retired vetran who lost capability to fly because his flight feathers were torn out perminantly, his name is 'rapidfire' and he's spitfire's cousin
