“YESSSS!”Firework was jumping off the walls. Today was the day. Finally, after months of waiting, he was no longer the baby of the family. It was only a matter of time before he’d meet him...his new baby brother. He could hardly wait!
”I hear them! They’re home!” Lightning Bolt exclaimed, zipping towards the door with Firework not far behind. By the time they got there, their parents had already come in. Their dad was busy unpacking their overnight bags, while their mom simply stood in the doorway, smiling down at the bundle pressed to her chest.
“Momma! Lemme see him!” Firework jumped up at his mother, eager to see the new baby.
“Hey boys,” Rainbow Dash lightly ruffled the colts’ manes, sounding calmer than usual. She held the bundle out so they could see the baby’s face. “Meet your new sister. Her name’s Paint Swirl.”
”Whoa! She’s so tiny!” Lightning gasped, standing up to get a better view of the filly. For Firework, however, something didn’t line up.
”Don’t ‘cha mean brother?”
Rainbow chuckled. “Nope, she’s a girl. You guys wanna sit and hold her?”
She’s a girl...
Firework froze, those words ringing in his ears. All his hopes, all his dreams of having a baby brother to play with, came crashing down. Instead, he had a sister. A tiny, weak, sister. And he wasn’t having any of it.
”B-but I wanted a brother!”
“Sorry kid,” Rainbow Dash replied. “We can’t decide these things, ya know. Sometimes you get what you get.”
“WHY?” The colt wailed, tears welling up.
Rainbow hesitated, searching for an appropriate response. “Because I said so, that’s why!”
“Take it BACK! I wanna brother!”
”Firework, you already have a brother. Besides, you’d miss her if she went back.”
”Yeah!” Lightning piped in. “I dunno about you, but I like her!”
But nothing could soothe Firework now. He collapsed on the floor, kicking and screaming in a mess of tears. “I DON’T WANNA SISSY!”
“Firework Phosphorous Flare!” Rainbow scolded. “You have a sister, and that’s final! We could have lost her, so you better be glad she’s home alive!”
“NO!” Firework shrieked. “S-she’s weak and ugly! Brothers are COOLER!”
Rainbow scowled and clutched her baby defensively. “If you’re gonna act like that, go to your room! You’re grounded!”
The colt stomped up to his room and slammed the door, still crying angrily. What did Mom and Lightning even see in that wrinkly little baby? He would never love that filly, not when he wanted a brother. He wouldn’t even care if she disappeared forever, as long as he got his little brother. He wouldn’t miss her anyway, right?

I'll have 6 drawings ready (hopefully soon) that I'd let you collab with me on and I'll be sure when I can to finish up that sketch of Turq and Mel you gave me.
XD It'll most likely be from saving some pony's life. Although I feel maybe with Fire Storm it'd most effective considering how much character growth he'll go through and how it would be more dramatic if he literally went out in flames.

Idea: Fire Storm, in his adulthood, fucked up really badly and hurt someone he loved. That same pony was trapped in a burning building. Fire went in after them to try to make up for what he did. He died in the fire without ever having the chance to apologize, let alone know he was forgiven.

Well technically he passes away in his 40s so it's not young but not old either.
My ideas are either the Thunderforth kid (still has no name yet) who WAS Fire's best friend OR his daughter, Diamond Rough as shown here:

Some possible ideas I had:
1. Nimbostratus (placeholder name) and Fire Storm used to be best friends. As teens, they had interests in common, but Nimbo was always the more mature of the two. They were close confidants. When they grew up, they drifted apart as Nimbo was maturing much faster than Fire. Essentially, they meet up as adults at some reunion or something and Fire is being an arrogant shit. Nimbo is all like “you’re not the friend I knew, the friend who stood up for the filly that was picked on.” They split up and Fire comes to realize that he lost his closest friend and confidant. Nimbo doesn’t hate him, he just wants Fire to get some sense into his head. Fire dies trying to save Nimbo from a burning office building to make up for it, but little did he know that Nimbo had already gotten out safe. So he essentially jumped into the fire for nothing...
2. Diamond Rough and Fire Storm butt heads a lot. They have a lot in common personality-wise, which often causes them to clash. On top of that, Fire isn’t really the best father. So one day, they get into a huge fight, with the whole “I hate you dad” thing that teenagers do. Diamond is pretty rebellious so she goes out to party with friends later that night to try and forget about her father. Her friends accidentally set the building on fire, and Fire goes in after her to try to make up for being a shitty father. He dies in the process, and Diamond is ridden with guilt for years to come. (Think of Chocolate Bomb’s struggles, but with Cotton Tuft’s personality)
