After animating him five times, I started to think to myself:
"...I should give him some kind of backstory. And a REALLY STUPID backstory at that."
20 minutes of thinking later and I had created for him the
stupidest,
least believable,
most far-fetched,
most over-the-top,
most utterly ridiculous back story IN THE HISTORY OF backstories I've come up with.
Then I decided to take all that stupidity and made it into a Flash-tacular character profile. Enjoy, and let the disbelief-induced-head-shaking begin!
I also threw in some music so your ears wouldn't be as bored as the rest of your body will be.

Damn dude, this is beautiful. I really have no beefs with this piece.
Such a simple and colorful design. Awesome.
Now if I HAD to critique this there is only a few things I could really comment on.
- transition from the reality to the illusion
- reality doesn't seemed to be perfectly aligned to the boxes around it
- some of the animation is cut off, not wide enough
I'm sure it looks completely different when you're just viewing the file on your desktop or whatever
Also I kind of have a request. Would you mind taking a bunch of screenshots of the timeline for us nerds? I LOVE seeing how others work, if I could see just a little bit of how you do your thing I'd probably increase my own productivity.
Ah what else... damn, there was something but I forgot what it was.
Anyways time to check out your other pieces. I hope they're this good!

And wow. You win 500 points for the most in-depth comment I've ever received.
As far as those critiques go, I think I can explain them all:
- The transition from the reality to the illusion isn't something I'm proud of at all. It was the last piece of the Flash that I did, so it looks so boring and chuggy partly because of a lack of creativity on my part, and partly because Flash was crashing whenever I tried to do anything more impressive for it.
- In hindsight I probably should have had him hover a little bit lower, or made the boxes completely solid. As they are now, they're actually semi-transparent to get that weird sort-of-shadow-effect.
- If this were a more perfect world... or if my version of Flash was less crashy, it'd be wider and the animation wouldn't be cut off at all. Whenever I tried to widen it, Flash would say "NO! SCREW YOU!", then glitch out and not let me see anything on the stage. So I just left it as it is and hoped nobody would really notice.
And I could take some timeline screenshots if you wanted, but you'll be pretty disappointed when you see what's actually going on there.

Hey man, I know what its like to put in 20 + hours into an animation and only get minimal feedback in return. Putting 10 minutes into writing a comment for something that had taken 10 hours to make is not a problem in my book.

Dude. Hardcore. That is seriously some bad ass music, info, and animation you have. Nightmare is one kick ass character, especially for an OC. Gah! Now I wanna go write a fanfic with him in it... Damn! Just way too awesome.
