Maybe being a sarcastic sass master isn't the best.

They all watched you as you tumbled down and out of the tree before falling flat on your back. So much for being an elf of grace. You heard the laugher of Legolas at your wonderful performance as well as a stifle of a laugh from Tauriel. "Oh ha! Just because I can't climb a damn tree like you lot doesn't mean anything!" You shouted with a huff before turning away. You crossed your arms while turning away from them.

"Come now [name], we meant nothing by it" came Legolas's still cheerful laughter. He offered you a hand which you smacked away and got up by yourself.

"You're such a child." He said with a shake of his head.

"Excuse me princess~" you said as he looked at you with a growl.

"It's prince."

"Ah, really? I can't tell, is there really anything there?" You asked, hand twirling in a motion for him to reveal his proof. Tauriel was now taking this as the chance to smirk and keep laughing. You were always sarcastic and made light of things while every other elf of Mirkwood was either serious or scared to make light.

"You know I think daddy might be calling you. Better go tend to him and his drinking habits." You said with a hand on your pointed ear as Legolas finally came closer.

"You will not speak ill of my father. Even if it is a joke." He said with his blue eyes sneering into yours.

"Or what?" You asked as he smirked now. That smirk was dangerous as it curled into his lips.
"Or this!" He said as he picked you up in one fluid motion, easily scaling up the tree and setting you high in it. The blonde elf chuckling as he began to lower himself to the ground. Leaving you high in the tree.

"You are by far the worst person I know." You growled out with a pout. Tauriel had left when a guard had called her name.

"[name], the king wishes to speak with you." Came a guard as you sighed and looked at Legolas who sat by the tree. "Can you help me down?" You asked with a sugary sweet voice.

"Why?" He asked in a quick retort. Oh, he's into playing games now is he? Two can play at this game you princely elf.

"I.... I'm sorry." You said as he chuckled and shook his head. "Apologizing won't get you anywhere Mellon'nin." He said as you sighed at him calling you 'my friend'. He wasn't into your game of surprise attacks either.

"You know why I'm such an ass to you? Why I tease and make fun of you?" You asked him as he just hummed.

"Are you listening to me? This is serious!" You yelled now as he stilled and turned his head to you. His blue eyes looking into yours as you sighed. "Never mind... Just, can I please be let down?" You asked him as he stared at you for a moment. Then he swiftly climbed the tree and sat next to you on the branch.

"No, but now I'm now curious at why you poke at me all the time." He said as you thought about your friend and captain of the guard you were even lower than she was. An orphaned elf that Thranduil decided to take pity on and give a home to. He was in love with Tauriel, you saw it in his eyes.
You smiled with melancholy and chuckled softly. Legolas was now concerned upon seeing you so open and soft. "[name]?" He asked as you shook your head. You decided to try and just climb down the tree yourself.

Your foot slipping as you almost fell more than a few feet. Legolas catching your hand as he held it and slowly let you down to catch your grip again.

You jumped off the tree finally with ease and walked back to the kingdom. As you walked up the steps of the throne you stopped halfway and looked to Thranduil who had his back turned.
"My dear, you know the tales of Erebor correct?" He asked as you lifted an eyebrow. Why did he have to call you so sweetly?

"Yes, what of this? Are you sending me to fight a dragon? I know I'm stupid but not that stupid." You said as he seemed to crack a tiny smile.

"No, i am just curious if you know of the great serpent." He said as you crossed your arms. "Fine, I'll admit to have leaving the woods and wandered towards Laketown. To answer your question, yes, I've heard of Smaug." You said as he nodded.

"That is all." He said as you quirked a brow.

"No, that is not all. Your brewing up a plan. And what is that plan exactly? You do want me to go to the mountain. Though for you, and why?" You asked as he motioned you closer.

You sighed as you walked closer to the elf of regal.

"The dwarves that once had been there are presumably returning there this autumn. On Durins day." He said.

"And you know this how?" You asked him as he sent you an even bigger shit eating grin. "Because I just know. There have been orcs spreading closer. I know of that, with our woods growing more infected." He said as you hummed. You were about to inquire what else he meant of this plan until he spoke.

"Also, I've seen the looks you give my son." He spoke as you stilled.

"I assure you I wouldn't make a move. Besides, his eyes are set on Tauriel." You told him as he shook his head. His eyes looking into yours as he smirked once more.

"I know that, Legolas is set on her and I will have a talk with her. I'd rather my son marry someone of royal status." He said as you figured much. "So what does this have to do with me? Other than the fact I'm forbidden to flirt with him" You asked as he laid a hand on your shoulder.
"You really have no clue?" He asked as he stared at you. Your eyebrows quirked together as he let his hand slid down your arm. " your majesty?" You asked as he began to lean closer. Your heart beating faster. This isn't meant to be how it goes! You're meant to be rejected by the prince not have his dad fall for you!

"My king." Came a guard as Thranduil straightened up immediately.

"What?" He snapped as he turned to the guard.

"Your son wants to speak with you." He said as Thranduil gave him a flick of his wrist before turning back to a frozen you.

"Now that look on your face. Is absolutely adorable. I haven't seen surprise on your face in a while." He said as his hand came to your cheek. "Go and watch the gates. I'll call for you once I've finished my business here." He told you while you looked away from him and scurried off. You couldn't look at him, your heart was beating way too fast right now for it to be normal.

Your hands flying around as you yelled out in frustration. You guessed acting like an asshole in general attracts the biggest asshole of them all. You sighed as you rubbed your face and walked towards the gates. You had to avoid this all. Avoid the king. Avoid Legolas. Just avoid everyone in general. You've gotten yourself in some deep shit. And you're heart couldn't bare what was to come.
