  Suey opened his eyes, feeling the glaring sun across his back. It wasn't often he fell asleep and stayed awake for long into the morning, perhaps even afternoon. Usually his boss, Scorpion, woke him up with a task in hand. Yet no task, and Suey could feel that it was late deep within his soul.

  He was on a cliffside, not his usual sleeping area. Usually he was surrounded with shiny items and jewels, large blankets and weapons. Things that brought appeal to him in his cozy sleeping area. However, this was not that. A cliffside on some mountains, with a steep drop only a tail length away.

  "Good, you're awake," a low voice said. Suey looked up to his side, surprised to find Scorpion there, their tails curled around one another, Scorpion's larger body resting against Suey's. He was staring off into the distance, his lower set of eyes shut. "You slept in rather late."

  "How'd we get here?" Suey yawned, not recalling any memories from the night before. It all felt blank and blurred. Had he been drunk?

  "We were on a hike up the mountain sides and we both gotten tired. We started to talk but you were slowly fallin' asleep. Took me a minute to realize it too, I ended up talking to myself for a long minute," Scorpion chucked, smiling faintly. It wasn't often he did this, and when he did it wasn't for good reasons. But this was different; this time was true and happy.

  "Ain't I told you, you was crazy?" Suey softly returned, leaning against Scorpion's side, resting his head on the center of Scorpion's back. He grunted softly, still half asleep. "Boss, what time did we say we'd come back?"

  "Don't worry about it," Scorpion assured him, caressing Suey's cheek with his tail tip, careful not to prick him with the barb. He gently leaned down and pressed his snout against Suey's neck. "You think I'd not plan for us to have this time, love?"

  That made Suey happy real quick. Scorp wasn't one to use nicknames or "love" often, so that made him snuggle against him more.

  "Good point, hon," Suey yawned. "I think I may sleep for the rest of the day."

  "A'ight," Scorpion nibbled on Suey's ear for a second. "I'd be okay with that."
