My babies are back 💕 and with some backstory:

Ume and Gaara grew up apart despite almost living under the same roof, as Ume was raised by Rasa as a spy, but was forbidden from associating with other people, especially the Kazekage's children. It is not until the events of the chunnin exams that they meet, as Ume is sent to participate in covering up and disappearing Gaara's murders with her shadow jutsu. When he discovers her, he doesn't kill her off as useful, but he isn't even remotely nice to her. Back in Suna and Gaara evangelized (xD), they start a friendship that grows little by little. In the Shippuden period they distance themselves, as Ume decides that she wants to protect Suna with her own methods, which do not fit with the image that Gaara wants to give as Kazekage. And finally, after many things that happen in the war (which she gives for a fanfic, honestly) and after the wedding of Naruto and Hinata, they manage to establish a loving relationship
