Lilac starshine and her elder sister eclipse. Eclipse is Lunas second daughter and her firstborn alicorn. Being the middle child between the first born alora, her younger brother (... ) and the twins she always felt rather unimportant.

Although her big sister got wings and a horn she is a batpony and does not count as a true alicorn, at least that's what eclipse always told herself. Much like luna in her younger years, eclipse feels like she should be adored by her subjects and she is envious of the attention her sister and cousins get

Unlike most ponies, eclipse likes nightmare moon. To her, nightmare moon is not some monster, a cruel ruler, she's just her mother. Someone who took their rightful place on the throne and punished ponies for their years of ignorance. "The night should be adored by all. Its beautiful and precious. We thrive in the moonlight"

Eclipse however does not have a nightmare moon version of herself as far as we know. She used magic to change her form, to look more like that version of her mother. She wants to show ponies that she is a powerful alicorn, a worthy ruler, strong and fierce. Lilac, being the only other alicorn sibling, is her only "rival for the throne", but she does not hate her.

Despite her insecurity and jealousy, eclipse loves her half sister, and while she's a rival in her eyes, she's just having a stern discussion about the whole thing
