Description
The Ruler class was derived as a lighter variant from the Valley Forge class cruisers. In principle, the primary hull of the Valley Forge was combined with the smaller secondary hull of the Al Burak class to create a faster, cheaper patrol ship.

In later stories of "Starship Shiva", the light cruisers USS Atheling and USS Shah will play minor roles.
