As far as the shading, I went just putting the brush tool on a low opacity and stroked it on. I know there's an airbrush tool, but I'm afraid I haven't used it yet.

I'm thinking of buying a tablet to help my digi colouring. My cel work is... less than satisfactory...
Heck, if you've seen some of my poor excuses for artwork, it's almost an insult me talking to you; I'm not worthy of this! The emotion, the atmosphere, the pose and posture, it's all incredible!

I hope to get much better at my art over time, but for now, practice and hard graft it shall have to be... I'm more of a sketch and design person myself, I never really had the hang of shading and digital painting...

You're like me then, I struggle with coloring. I enjoy it when I can, but I prefer creating the black and white art and trying to give it a graphic novel appearance.

You miss the point, it's not about being better than someone else =/ It's about ones own perception to the art they create. We're both aware of the flaws in our art and want to improve, so I fail to see how we're any different from each other.
